Morning ladies :) I have been told that there is a British clinic in Dubai (with a great reputation in London and here) that specialises in nuchal testing. Unfortunately the person who told me this cannot remember the name of the clinic. Can anyone advise? Many thanks.

Plagarised from babycentre This prenatal test (also called the NT or nuchal fold scan) can help your healthcare practitioner assess your baby's risk of having Down syndrome (DS) and some other chromosomal abnormalities (trisomy 18, trisomy 13, Turner Sundrome and triploidy) as well as major congenital heart problems. There are also other gentic syndromes which cause a thickening of the neck. Combining the blood test and your age the NT test becomes the 'Triple Test'

Hey Dubai71 , well apparently the blood test is a part of the NT scan and collectively looking at the scan and the blood test they will be adble to deduce the chances of baby having future downs syndrome. They look at various factors like the age , the ultrasound and the blood test and then come up with the chance of you having a downs syndrome baby. Its a fairly new procedure i would say as i didnt have this last time for my DD. Aha- thanks. I thought it was just the scan.

Hey guys thought i would update that had my nuchal translucency test yesterday and was great. It was sooo nice to see though it was very quick and didnt take much time. They took the blood test but said results would take two weeks but keeping my fingers crossed. God seems like such a loonggg wait till the scan and then once it happens its over in a few minutes :( anyhow next meeting with doc is faar faar away 12th of july so thats a downer as wont get to see bubs for a whole six weeks. By the way she couldnt tell the *** just as yet but it was 144 beats/minute. Any old wives tale guesses based on heart rate ? Excellent news about your scan :) Excuse my ignorance, but can you tell me what the blood test you had is/for? Thanks

Thanks Mover and Serendipity. Looks like Fetal Medicine is the place then- will give them a call. Serendipity- congratulations to you too :) How far along are you? FMC is not the only place in Dubai. Dr George is excellent, saw him for our 12 week scan, having previously gone to FMC and this time didn't want to have the blood work done "internally" at the FMC clinic and thought he was wonderful. Explained things more clearly and his bedside manner gentle and professional. http://www.ahdubai.com/medservices/physicians_dtls.aspx?dr_id=141 Gosh no. Anywhere can do NT scans it's just if there is a problem, you are then referred to FMC. Glad you had a great result.

Wow, that's fantastic Serendipity. Double the fun ;) How many cycles did it take you? This was our third cycle and I am now just over 8 weeks. Previously miscarried at 7 weeks so am desperate to get to the 12 week milestone when hopefully I'll be able to relax a little more. Some questions if I may: When did you come off all the drugs (I am still on the daily Cyclogest, Progyluton, Baby Aspirin and now also Innohep and Prednisolon, as well as twice weekly progesterone IM jabs)? Obviously I am happy to stay on all as long as necessary but am sure I am rattling when I walk and resembling a pin cushion. Also did you go to the Fetal Medicine Centre for your tests? If so, how did you deal with dissing Dr F for that part? Thanks! x Thank you, we were lucky - it was our first attempt. I came off the drugs at 8 weeks (i think - pregnancy brain) but I have now been put back on Cyclogest and Duphaston and an injection once a week by my OBGYN at Medcare. I didnt have the NT scan at Fetal Medicine Centre in the end but at Medcare which was fine and all is good - low chance of DS. I spoke to Madonna and they were fine about it as they know insurance plays a big factor in decisions. Congratulations again - 3rd time lucky and all going well thats great. I can imagine you are rattling bless but the baby will soon be feeding from the placenta so hopefully you can come off them soon. xx

Don't know the british clinic however, Fetal Medical Centre is the best here. They send bloods to a clinic in germany i believe and CVS and Ammnio's to Kings College Hospital London. +97143604040 The main guy is Dr Pour Mirza. I am a complete and utter fan, after a difficult pregnancy, but he does have an odd manner which can rub people up the wrong way. However, in terms of skill and equiptment, he is the best here and is recognised as such by the medical community. edited for spelling edited by mover and a sheikha on 30/05/2011

Hi Dubai71, Congrats on your pregnancy. I am also pregnant through Dr.F. The only one I know is the fetal Medicine Centre in Healthcare City - which is also in London. Not sure that helps.
