Feel free to drop me a line if you like, and I can pass on the information I have with my breastfeeding counsellor hat on. sian.breastfeedingqa@ at gmail.com .

why don't u track the ovulation with your gynae... i used to do that at this clinic called Unicare (in Buruman)... they checked me (with an internal scan) during days 11 to 19 of my cycle... I had to go in every alternate day and they basically measured the follicles... and would tell me just when they were ready for ovulation and I'd focus on having s** on those days... that kind of narrows the window...
they will also be able to tell u if ur having any issues such as delayed ovulation, etc.
at unicare, they charged AED 500 for these follicular studies (as they termed it)
hehe - well, you know that "everyone's different", so that's not very helpful. I don't know if you can trigger ovulation at all... just completely chancing a completely non-medical opinion, but maybe if you went of a progesterone-only pill for a couple of months and then stopped it would trick your body into ovulating, but I wouldn't do anything without a Dr's opinion.
I conceived 28 days after DD self-weaned (which was a bit of a surprise) after having no periods at all whilst bf. A friend conceived while she was breastfeeding and carried on until she was several months pg. Hmmm... random really. Everyone's different!
Have fun trying though - no harm in getting lots of practice in!
LOL I know, another breastfeeding thread!
Am keen to get on with making baby number two, I know that you can conceive while breastfeeding and breastfeed while pregnant, only problem is according to the OPKs I don't seem to be ovulating yet. DS is 17 months and still breastfed, periods came back when he was around 11 months and seemed regular-ish but I've actually tracked the last 3 and they are 33-35 day cycles with brown spotting for one day at day 28. Before I had DS I had very regular 28 day cycles with LH surge day 14/15. I've been doing the kits for 3 cycles now and no evidence of LH surge between days 10-20.
So I'm faced with a dilemma, want my babies close together, don't want to stop breastfeeding. DS is nightweaned already, has a couple of big feeds a day and a couple more snacks. He doesn't drink much fluid besides breastmilk although happily would drink as much cows milk as I would give him, I just don't give it.
So my questions are, is it likely that cutting down on feeds would make a difference and if I did would I be better to space them somewhat evenly out between 7am and 7pm or just try not to feed all afternoon if that makes sense. Do I have any other options (have never really refused to nurse except when in the car or supermarket etc so not sure how he will react), is there any medication that could help induce ovulation that would be safe to take while breastfeeding.
Anyone been there or know about this stuff before I head to the OBGYN (who will probably just tell me to wean completely). Is there any point in charting(temp etc) if the kits are not showing LH surge?
Feeling very conflicted about what to do.
