Hello.
I took a home pregnancy test that was positive. And I want some advice regarding next steps - can I request a blood test to confirm the pregnancy at the emergency room? Or should I book an appointment with a gynae-ob? Do you have any recommendations for a specific doctor and hospital for maternal care?
Thanks in advance

Firstly....Congratulations on your pregnancy. Secondly..... The emergency room for a pregnancy test!! I know different people define situations differently, but there's no way a second pregnancy test could be classed as an emergency.

Thank you for the quick response :) I am between 4-6 weeks pregnant Will take an ob-gyn appointment as I have full insurance cover early days still but quite exciting... i'm in week 17 and consulting Dr. Jennifer at City Hospital... doctors that are most popularly recommended include: - Dr. Raj @ American Hospital - Dr. Elsa (she has her own private clinic now but delivers at City Hospital) Most of my friends here ( Around 6 of them) delivered at either City or Al Zahra if that helps

hi ... congratulations! do you know how far along you are? as in how long since your last period? most gynecologists won't see you till at least 8weeks since your last period (as the first antenatal visit)... but if you just want to confirm the pregnancy via a blood test you could either take a normal ob/gyn appointment (that would set you back around 250-300 if you're not covered by insurance) or then visit a lab for a test.
