Hi Ladies. Alhamdulilah we are finally expecting a new member to the family :) I had my first ultrasound at 6 weeks and the doctor has spotted a blood clot in my uterus. It is small in size and is far from the placenta. The doctor still forsees a risk of miscarriage and has prescribed me to take primolut depot injections - once a week for 3 weeks. Being a google-freak I obviously googled the side effects and have found that this is a D rated drug as per FDA and has various side effects. I consulted my previous Dr. and he also assured me that th injection is safe but I am finding it too difficult to ignore what google tells me.
Has anyone of you taken this injection during your pregnancy? Would be great to get some direct feedback! I'm so worried!

Hi Family. I have been reading post of primolut injection during pregnancy.Am kind of afraid now,please is it necessary for one to still bleed with cloth right after taking the primolut injection?And for how long? I don't want to loose my baby.

Thanks a lot for your replies ladies. I took my second injection yesterday and almost cried with pain. It was quite embarassing. Anyways I have decided to continue with the injections based on the feedback that I got from you girls and my previous doctor. God bless you all for being so helpful :)

Hi I had the primolut injections during my pregnancy with DS along with Duphaston until week 16. I think the injection was weekly but not sure. I was hesitant at the time but I'm glad that I took it as my pregnancy was very touch and go for a long time, lots of spotting and even a bout of proper bleeding! But my DS is nearly 3 now so a happy outcome here! I fell pregnant 7 weeks after a miscarriage so I'm not sure if this was a factor as to why that was such a tricky pregnancy. Hi Busybeee Sorry to hear you are going through this. I'm very anti everything with pregnancy, during my first three pregnancies I wouldn't even take panadol but I'm currently pregnant with my fourth and after and accident at 5 weeks nearly resulting in miscarriage I've had to take pretty much everything. I had weekly primolut injections from weeks 5 - 22. I tried to stop them at week 12 and nearly miscarried. I also took duphaston twice daily from weeks 5 - 28 and am still taking cyclogest and will be until week 32. I was extremely worried about side effects but my ob/gyn was very reassuring, I spoke to friends who had also taken them with no problems and I read some medical texts on them. In the end I decided that I'd rather take the drugs than not and risk losing my baby and always wondering if I could have saved him. I've also being seeing a government ob/gyn in case I need to deliver at early at Latifa and her opinion has been that nothing I'm taking will be in anyway harmful to my baby. I made a decision after my accident that I would not google as it would do nothing except worry me and I needed to remain positive. I've kept to that apart from on one occasion which had me panicking within 10 minutes of reading. The dire predictions that I read have not happened, three ob/gyns have checked and reassured me googles warnings were wrong and I've kept to my vow to avoid google since! Good luck with everything.

Hi Busybee87. No need to worry. I went thru the same thing you did. When i was 6 wks pregnant, i had some spotting and went to the ob. ultrasound showed a blood clot (subchorionic hematoma) in my uterus and they gave me primolut injection and was ordered 3 days complete bed rest. And like you, i'm a google freak and spent all of those 3 days worrying about the blood clot and the primolut being D-grade. :( I went to see another ob and was told this was safe. I got another injection i think two weeks after then that was it and did not have any complications with pregnancy. DD is now 10 months.

Yes, primolut injection is useful to avoid miscarriage Better to take it, than not to take it, as it maximise your chances to keep your baby inside There are several medicines doctors use to protect the pregnancy like duphaston, cyclogest... And primolut has proved, and therefore, is known to be a powerful medicine I nearly miscarried four or five times my fourth baby and doctors have prescribed also all these medicines... They helped a lot to push as far as possible the pregnancy so my baby could have a maximum of chances to survive Medicines, excellent doctors and nurses are vital but that's not all I found out that one of the most important thing to help in a delicate pregnancy was to keep a positive mind, even if it's hard I know it, and to stay master of yourself even in sensible moments Believe in yourself, realise you're capable to do it and trust these people... They seem to know what they are speaking about Hope this helps and if you need other advice or just want some moral support I'm there
