Hand blender worked fine for me! Eta: agree with kiwis piers, it's few months only, I used mostly steam cooker for veggies and pressure cooker for meat.

i also just used my immersion/hand blender/chopper set to make baby food. Never bought anything special for just one thing. Worked just fine. DS started eating jars and purees at 6 months and is now 14 months, with no teeth still, but he's eating table food right alongside us. I don't make him anything special now but I do freeze boiled pasta for a quick meal/snack.

Do you already have a food processor? I just made large batches of things and purees either in processor or blender depending on what it was (peas for example puree finer in the blender, especially if you drain them and add to ice cold water while still hot). I used my slow cooker a lot too. I feel like its better to invest in things you'll use for a long time. The puree stage is quite short (maybe 2-3 months) and you could always borrow something? For freezing, I found the best things were silicone ice cube trays, and then when you get to larger portions, silicone muffin tins (and giant muffin tins) Freeze your batch then pop into ziplock bags. You'd be amazed what you can freeze, rice pudding, cooked rice, quinoa porridge (I used to make this in rice cooker, puree and freeze), pasta etc. I used to have a big cook-up once a week and batch freeze three or four things so i could always mix and match little meals.

I have a hand held blender which is about half the price of the gadget you are referring to. I use it for DD's food plus things for us so it is versatile (great for soups). I just use the large ice cube trays that came with the freezer to portion the food; and put them in a sealable bag in the freezer. I have a few tommee tippee freezer containers on a tray but as they are only a few portions haven't bothered using them for the freezer (better for snacks in my bag) as i do DD's food on bulk for a couple of weeks at one time. Hope that helps.

Hey ladies Planning in advance and trying to decide what will be the best gadget to help when Im weaning DD onto solids. Saw the Baby Bullet on Groupon (see link) and it looks great, but I cant decide if it would be better to get something like this or something that's a combined steamer and food processor all in one. Storage in our kitchen is an issue so dont want too many gadgets. What would you suggest? http://www.groupon.ae/deals/national-deal/Groupon-Direct-207007/11413976?nlp=&CID=AE_CRM_1_0_0_285&a=2026 TIA! :)
