I think technically you can be in trouble if your marriage date is later than conception date. When you register the birth (which you have to do to get a birth certificate, and therefore a passport/residence visa) you have to send a copy of your marriage certificate. I'm not sure how closely they check them (we were married for 3 months before conception) but it is possible that they do, and if so, I think you can technically be in a lot of trouble. I hope someone can give you a clearer response - but if you check back through this forum, I think there has been a lot of discussions on this previously, which should give you a better idea.

Hi! This is an interesting topic. I've heard various stories on this topic and as with all things legal here in the UAE, it's best to err on the side of caution. Can you get a civil wedding?

Hi! I was reading on 'pregnantindubai' website that as long as you're married before baby arrives, you're ok in dubai....have a look at the website and see what you think. Hope its of use. Max

Hmmmm, not quite sure. I do remember reading online somewhere that it is a criminal offence to be pregnant outside of marriage in Dubai, though Im not sure what the consequences are. I just remeber reading that because when going in for delivery we have to carry our marriage certificates as proof of relationship. Sorry I cant give you a more definitive answer....maybe you could ring a family lawyer and ask for some advice?
