Has anyone taken their baby to get this vaccine?
Do you know where to go and the cost as don't think it's covered by the government hospitals.

I believe it has to be done before 6 months?

Thanks

As far as I know, the government clinics only cover the vaccine schedule mandated by the government and rotavirus is an 'optional' extra one. We got the 2 dose type, given at 2 and 4 months. It was around 350 dhs per dose (I'm in AD though not Dubai so can't help with the clinic). We were able to claim it back through our insurance but obviously it depends on your policy.

Correct, 3 doses, have to be done by 34 weeks I believe, we did them at 3, 5 and 6 months but you could also do them at 2, 4 and 6 months at the same time as the Hexa vaccine. We did them at Health Bay and the cost was about aed 440 for each dose. Are you sure the health card doesn't cover it? I have a friend who was telling me they did all the vaccines at a government clinic and were very happy so I assumed all vaccines were covered but I didn't ask for details...If I can get myself to go get a health card for the LO maybe we can do the rest at a government clinic as most insurance plans don't cover vaccines and I feel I've paid a fortune for vaccines already!

There are 3 doses which all need to be given before 8 months, I think there is a 2 dose variation too but I would suggest checking whether you have time for all the doses if you haven't had any yet. We had it done at 2, 4 and 6 months. edited by kiwispiers on 14/04/2013

I got the first dose of the rotavirus vaccine for my son from Canada and the second dose was given to him here by his paediatrician at City Hospital. Dr Syed Ahmed. To be honest- i don't remember what the cost was :s
