i am also trying (only been doing it for 2 weeks or so) the EASY routine with my 3 month old. She used to sleep 10-6 at night (once even 10-8) and had a couple of hrs sleep in naps during the day - that was before we started EASY. Now she has the nap obviously after the eat and activity but i find she is sleeping more through the day and less at night ( 9-1 then up for between 1-1.5 hrs!!!) then back till 6am). This is clearly not working for me. She also wants to sleep earlier at night, about 7.30 she is giving out all the sleep cues, a few nights i followed her time and bathed and bedded her at 8; she was up at 1, 4.30 then 6 - clearly not working either......not sure what i should do now
7pm bedtime for a 6 month old, who wakes up at around 7am. I never wake him, and enjoy a sleep in once in awhile. He still wakes at 4- 5 am for a feed regardless of the time I give him his dream feed. I think that a 12 hr day works best, so adjust your times to suit your lifestyle.
If only I could get my 3year old in bed at 7pm!
we always had a rule, anything before 6am is stlll night, was always a 6:30-7am start until recently(woke at 7 soemtimes) but lately he has been waking at 5:30 and refusing to go back to sleep :(. The 1 1'2 hours waketime in the EASY routine was always a good fit at that age for us and we were having a pretty good night stretch but we never had long naps.
At 6-7 weeks they tend to have a later bedtime than when they are older, because they are napping more by day but I think base the bedtime on how they are in the evening. If they are a screaming mess or require a lot of attention the hour before bed, bedtime is too late IMHO.
Bedtime is now 6pm, any later and we have a very rough night sleepwise.
Babe, my DD goes to bed every night at 7pm (non negotiable) and wakes every morning at 7am which is also non negotiable. I think having them in bed by 7pm is a good time as anything later seems too late for DD and she gets overtired, plus it gives you and DH quality mummy/daddy time every night. If you start to put him down for the night by 7pm then he'll be able to start his day earlier, around 7am. I wouldn't be aiming for a 7am wake up if you're not going to have him in bed by 7pm. At the end of the day though, you have to do what works for you and DS. I think they need a good 12hrs at night. Hope this helps...xx
PS - I find the earlier she goes to bed (7pm) the better her sleep is and then I'm having to wake her at 7am. If, on the odd occasion she goes to bed later than 7pm then for some strange reason she is awake by 6/6:30am. And 6/6:30am does not work for me! :D
Edited to add, DD is only 8.5 months - not sure what her timings will be like when she's older...
