My older DD never used Sophie as a teether, but then again she didn't really have teething pains. DD2, teething now is chewing every part of her Sophie. It's not given whether your child will like it or not. One thing I would like to say about it is that it has been around since the 60s (just met a lady whose son born in 1961 had it) and in France it became an institution, so I am pretty sure it is safe to handle.
If anyone is interested...I have a Sophie, unopened, still in Luxe Little wrapping that I'd like to sell.
I went a bit overboard with the online shopping ;-)
PS. DS loves his. He's 5 months, teething like mad and is finding great comfort in Sophies legs.

Babe, I might have a friend who is interested. Let me get back to you. Text me how much you want for it. ;)

DH washed Sophie under water, before I was able to stop him. Luckily for us Sophie dried okay and the squeaker still works. Took about a day to work again though.
Be warned they are much much more expensive here than elsewhere in the world, so if someone can bring one from Europe for you it's much cheaper.I bought mine back home and my little one was chewing on it all the time. Introduced it very early. But correct, I was also watching him all the time.Doesn't seem like a safe toy.
So for 2 days I have tried to get him to play with Sophie, he likes it when I squeek it but gets so angry that Sophie isnt cooperating at all with the hand to mouth movement. Today he became hysterical because sophie's ear almost poked his eye out. Took Sophie away and he got calm again...I guess he doesnt like to bite on safari animals...:)
