Stem Cell collection: did you use the same company for baby no. 2? Help! Am worried about putting all our 'eggs in one basket'
When DD #1 arrived we opted to store her cord blood and tissue with SmartCells. The service was good and we felt reasonably confident about the company.
I'm now nearly 38 weeks pregnant and I'm starting to have second thoughts about using the same service provider. As per my understanding (please correct me if I'm wrong), DD#1's cells could, in theory, help DD#2 and vice versa. However, if we opt to use the same service provider again and, god forbid, they go bankrupt (as one firm did recently) or the storage facility had a technical problem we wouldn't have any options left to us.
I'm thinking that two different service providers might give us a higher probability chance of having options available for our girls if we ever needed them.
What did you do? Who do you recommend as an alternative to Smart Cells?
TIA
