that is interesting KellsBells. Well here's hoping that he won't scream all day at nursery. I'll be working at the nursery too but luckily going in a few days prior to classes to organize things. That way he'll be with someone else but still have his big brother around.

Interesting.y 1st DS, who had really bad reflux till 9months and like yours, was used to having only ME for everything, also never took to a comforter, and I tried;-) DS 2, slight reflux, rectified by cranial Osteopath, has a soft toy cat that he adores! I'm sure it's mostly down to the personality of the child, but I think it also depends on the situation as well.

Mine 1 year old isn't attached to any toys, but he copes well without me around so far (when I've left him with the maid or DH), I don't think they are essential, lots of kids don't have them.

yes he's attached to me and only me. He had extreme reflux when he was very little all the way up to about 7 months. The only one he's ever fell asleep for, calmed down for and ate for is me. DH has a struggle with him.

I'm with you Srdoucet, I also had that problem; I think it does help them cope, but perhaps some kids just cope without these "transition objects"? Mine never took to any despite all my coaxing. But I think 1yr may have passed that window period they have in forming attachments -think it may be around 4-6 months. Maybe you can try leaving something of yours with him like a picture of you and him together and see how he does? Or do a trial run before work starts - leave him with someone for a few hours and then come back just so he knows you will return. Really hard to leave your little one, I know!

He doesn't need to attach himself to anything as he feels attached to you. This is a good sign why are you worried?

Most of us deal with having to break our kiddies of an attachment to something like a soother. My 3 yr old has his teddy and needs a certain blankie at bedtime. He also sucks his thumb to fall asleep. My one yr old never took a soother, never got on sucking his thumb or fingers. But is also not attached to any toy. I know its weird but I was really hoping there would be a toy he'd attach to for comfort since I'm starting work in a month. Any ideas or is he always going to be this way.
