Hiya ladies,

During my first pregnancy i got loads of stretch marks on my stomach area alone...I was abit down about them at first but now I'm totally okay with them. I does however bug me when nearly every other person i know does not have them atall. (Not that I wish they did).

Have a missed something crucial here? I am pregnant again with baby number two and i have been told that i may get more....although i feel like i have no escape from them, is there anything anyone can recommend please.

I have tried palmers coco butter, bio oil and olive oil during my first pregnancy but it didnt help....they say it help reduce the appearance which wasn't the case atall as my stretch marks looked as if a cat had attacked my stomach :(

Oh no, poor u....fingers crossed it lightens up for u. Are u from Rajasthan...wow, I'd love to go there :) My inlaws are guji, they alway tell me to wear saris but i tell them I'm not comfy and the little ones a perfect excuse lol Nope. I'm Bengali, brought up in Muscat and went to college and university all over the place. My husband is Marwari, but born and brought up in Cochin. Very culturally confused couple...lol

Ha ha, you're lucky you can wear a suit to a wedding. In my husband's very traditional marwari family, if I wear anything but a saree or a ghaghra that weighs at least 15 kilos to a family wedding, they'll be mortified. I have to be glad there are no cousins getting married for a couple of years at least, so hopefully they will lighten a bit by then.

Oh no, that can't have been nice for u stovetop....big hug I think my MIL forgotten how dark they are when u first get them...she asked me to go and see a dr. I had to tell her u had kids over 29yrs ago, uve obviously forgotten (in a nice way ofcourse) I wore a sari over the summer but i was so paranoid i used make up to make it less obvious...made me feel loads better. However i think I'll stick to my punjabi suits when it comes to weddings now.

Sorry, I don't have much advice but just wanted to tell you that I got loads too. It usually isn't a problem because my husband and I are okay with it, but when I wear a saree back at my in-laws place in India, every single person passes a comment. When my own sis-in-law saw them the first time, she was mortified and said "YUCK!" :o I know it's depressing when people keep talking about it, but just try not to care. They will lighten over time.

I think it's probably just bad luck. I was expecting a tummy full as I got them on my hips as a teenager but I didn't get any during pregnancy. I used Weleda stretch mark oil every day, it's good stuff and I will use it for the next pregnancy but can't really be sure if it made a difference. They will fade in time though, the ones on my hips are now quite old (like me) and they are silvery, not very noticeable. Many women and even men have a few somewhere on their body.

It's all genetics, my friend. That's good and bad. Good in that you can stop wasting money on potions and creams. Just use something because it makes your skin feel nice, but don't waste money on products and potions to "prevent" or "repair" them because those are false promises. The bad, if you're prone to them, there's nothing you can really do about it. I've got tiger stripes on my belly, too. Thought I was going to be spared as I went into the last month of my first pregnancy with none. Poof! They all appear. Worse with my 2nd. Oh well!
