Hello,

I just took a home pregnancy test and it confirmed that I am pregnant (I understand that I need to get a blood test done before I can be sure!) This is my second pregnancy after 7 years but first one in Dubai. I usually consult Dr Yamini Dhar in Welcare ambulatory center but the staff always ask me if I am pregnant. I think there is a whole different package gets involved?! Now my questions (pls pls do share your views and answers)
1. If I go to my regular doctor and ask them to do the pregnancy check, will I be then enrolled there itself (my insurance will cover maternity!)? What if I am not sure about the Dr or the facilities?
2. I googled on Dr Yamini and I think I understand that she doesn't do deliveries so who is the next best doctor/hospital/facilities near Dubai Marina?
3. Also, I was looking at the packages at AH (nicely explained on their website). Can we choose C Sec on our own? (My last hospital in Qatar did not give the option of C Sec until unless here was any complication or what doctor thought was the best)

I may sound absurd but trust me I am feeling extremely worried! Didn't realize that when I woke up this morning that life will change so fast :) pls do help!

Thanks,

Congrats!! You will need to check if your insurance company cover elective c-section. Some don't ... they just cover emergency c-sections or those required on medical grounds.

If your insurance covers maternity I would just look for a good Dr, the driving is only a minor matter. I also live in Marina area and drove to Garhoud for my check ups - in my mind, well worth it. If you are looking for a very good doctor, Dr Jennifer at Welcare did my emergency CS for DS and I can honestly say I have seen very few doctors take their job more seriously. edited by twin_butterfly on 11/01/2012

Congratulations Faith! It is overwhelming feeling no doubt and will take time to sink in :) Check your insurance if it covers maternity and if so, if there is a cap. You may opt for Al Wasl (government hospital) or a private hospital You can have a doctor of your choice. Dont know about doctors in Marina Area - sorry. Again it is worth checking doctors/clinics with your insurance provider and going for a direct reimbursement instead of 'pay and claim'. You can have elective C-section in private hospital (not sure about goverment one though), but I am sure ladies here will be able to help. I deliverd both my kids in AH (although vaginal birth) and it was a good experience! All the best!
