Daktarin oral gel for bubs and canestan topical cream for you and if it gets really really bad then oral tabs for you will be needed. Also air out your nipples as much as poss as the bacteria grows in warm environments ie. inside bubs mouth and inside your bra.

Sorry to jump in as I dont have a lo (yet) but I know when I get 'normal' thrush, its usually because my good bacteria are depleted. Good bacteria in our gut mainly feeds on candida and keeps those levels nicely under control but if we use antibiotics or are run down etc and our bacteria get wiped out, then there is nothing to feed on the natural supplies of candida yeast in our guts, and this candida starts to grow out of control and moves up to the mouth area and down to rear and front areas which itch terribly. I recommend getting a bottle of high quality probiotic powder or tablets with billions of bacteria and take double doses asap. I always do this when I am about to take antibiotics. Not sure if its the same sort of thrush but sure sounds like the symptoms are the same.

Whatever you use, you have to treat both yourself and your baby at the same time, even if one of you doesn't show symptoms. You also need to bin all dummies, nipple shields, teats etc and wash your nursing bra's etc in really hot water. Not sure if you can buy over the counter sorry. I wonder if putting cold plain yoghurt on your nipples might help ease the irritation in the meantime, since it is recommended for thrush in, err, "other" places.

Poor you! I have had this with all 3 of my children and it's terrible. I would try going to a pharmacy and asking. I know for baby they sell Daktarin oral gel which worked really well for my DD. I'm not sure about for you but the pharmacist could probably help until you can see your doctor. Good luck!

I really need some urgent advice as im struggling to get any answers from anyone in Abu Dhabi. I think my baby has Thrush and as a result i do aswell. My nipples are red and shiney and extremely sore and its affecting how i am breastfeeding as i cant stand the pain anymore. I have tried calling a lactation specialist here but cant be seen until Weds and they cant advise me over the phone what,if any, medicine i would need. Can anyone help and tell me a medicine i can buy over the counter that might at least help until i can be seen because at the moment little one is going hungry! Thanks in Advance x x
