Hi Ladies
Hoping you can share some of your travel trips with newbie parents who are absolutely freaking out about their upcoming holiday with their two month old DD.
We're traveling to Greece, flight is under five hours with Emirates and we have managed to score upgrades with points. I think we should definitely take the pram, car seat and probably the travel baby cot. Any thoughts on these?
DD is on formula - what is the go with taking hot water, formula etc onto planes, esp Emirates?
Any other thoughts? Someone suggested we should ensure DD is sipping on milk at take off and landing to help with the ear popping.

MANY TIA!

white noise is amazing, I'm a photographer and we used to always use it in the studio to settle newborns, and it always worked! At around the 6-8 week mark we definitely used the hairdryer more than once to get DS to take his naps.

Fab advice ladies, thank you : ) Never considered bringing change of clothes for me or hubby but it makes sense to do so! Kiwispiers - I'm trialling the white noise apps at the moment, DD loves the heartbeat one. She has been extremely difficult to settle all day long today and only calmed down at 5pm when I remembered your post and decided to trial it.

if she is only 2 months i dont think the carseat will be needed in flight as u can place her in the bassinet. they provide water on the plane so u dont need to take it along i never left without my travel cot and for on plane make sure she has clothes for a change but for u as well in case something out of her happens to fly on u hahaha they will provide u with blankets and all and the waiting room is much nicer and u can enjoy a variety of foods. I do agree on night flight or a early morning flight will also do great. the pram and carseat u can take along till the plane and than they will go bellow into the cargo and ull get them back as soon as u land so it wont be calculated in ur allowed kg. dont worry too much, ull be fine :) I did 8 hours flight and was scared as **** but all went perfectly well :)

is it a night flight? it's best and easier if it is.. yes, it's better to feed LO for take off and landing.. you can ask for hotwater in flight.. if you get a business class seat, you will get better service for stuff like water immediately. make it as normal as possible.. like when i flew with DD when she was 2 months alone, it was a night flight, i brought along her swaddle and dummy and her sleeping blankie. you will be fine.. don't worry.. Does she take a dummy, its easier than feeding for take off and landing. I think only some kids have problems with that though, I was vigilant about feeding or dummy and then realised it wasn't neccesary. Take lots of changes of clothes for each of you on board, babies have a habit of "leaking" at the worst possible times. Pram and car seat are a must, ask at checkin if they can block a seat between you and you might be allowed to put her in the carseat during the flight. a lot of places can provide a cot in which case just take bedding. White noise apps on your phone and a roll of tin foil and tape incase of bright/noisy rooms Can't help with formula, but middle eastern airports seem to let you take anything short of (and possibly even including) a nuclear weapon so long as its in a "baby bag" Babies are super portable at that age, you'll be fine.
