Thanks all, I use Pampers so have bought Huggies to see if it makes a difference. I will try changing her in her sleep but her room is so blimmin dark that it's impossible and I'm worried she might wake up :( Let's see. Pampers need to investigate this and make a tummy sleeping diaper with extra frontal absorbency! Huggies are extra absorbent, pampers leak alot. They might just help. Good luck I prefer huggies too, I think they're way more absorbant

So thanks to all the lovely ladies on EW, we have had great success in recent nights with our DD sleeping longer and through the night. She is just in PJs and sleeps way better than in a bag, and prefers tummy to back. However, she wakes up soaked through as the wee leaks out the top and onto her PJs, altho the back of the nappy is dry! I have tried 2 nappies (one on back to front) but it is still happening. She is happily asleep til 4 - 5am until she wakes up wet so for sure she would go right through. How can I keep her dry? Did anyone else have this prob?? Maybe tilt the matress/cot? so her upper body is elevated slightly. then any pee will run down into the diaper instead of up onto her tummy.

Pampers need to investigate this and make a tummy sleeping diaper with extra frontal absorbency! They already do! Try the pampers nappy pants for BOYS ;), boys nappies are designed with extra absorbency in the front. In nz all nappies are gender specific whereas I've found in the Middle East they are gender neutral ( which really means they are girls nappies) aside from the nappy pants. The nappy pants would be much easier to change in dark room too. I have switched both my babies to nappy pants at 6 months as they refused to lie on their backs for nappy changes.

We've had wet pjs a lot as DD is a night nurser...My babe used to always leak but we now we find it works really well if we use Huggies size 4 in day and size 4+ at night. I would also say you would need to put it in back to front in addition to the size up if she is a tummy sleeper. Another thing- the way the nappy is put on makes a huge difference. I always make sure all of the lining is flat, none folding down and the bits under the tabs on her sides are tucked as far round as I can get them and the waistline can't be folded at all, if it is she leaks. I'm sure you know this but thought I would write it down just in case :-)

Pampers need to investigate this and make a tummy sleeping diaper with extra frontal absorbency! We had the same happening, baby sleeps on her tummy because of reflux and I bought 4 different brands (Don't judge) to see which one would be best. Every time I tested the pampers she leaked. I think the size of the regular pampers are not the same as the buggies or premium pampers, they are actually much bigger, so maybe that is the reason why, either that or the quality. I am trying it out again tomorrow since she grew into a size bigger in 4 weeks.

In my experience it makes no difference whether you use a sleeping bad or not, I think TDB was saying it helps her DD sleep better without one but that's a different matter. Nor does it help using a bigger size diaper as the problem is with the front of the diaper and in fact when I did use bigger size it didn't fit well enough around DD's legs and that made matters worse. Of course you should be using the right size diaper, that's a given. I have tried at least 5 different diaper brands, no difference either. In my mind it's a simple equation, a diaper has a maximum absorbency after which the liquid will leak; as babies drink more and produce more, unless they change positions in their sleep and the liquid is evenly distributed the diaper will eventually leak. Now if they were sleeping on their back where there is a bigger diaper surface it might have been avoidable but for tummy sleepers I don't know what else would help...

Try changing her in her sleep. My little one has had the same problem, if he is lying a particular way one part of the nappy gets soaked and overflows even if other parts of the nappy are reasonably dry. Try different nappy brands too, they are all a different fit.

Diapers a size larger? Training pants (like the waterproof covers) over the diaper?

Hi TDB, We've been having the same issue for a few months now, I have tried various diapers but the only solution that is working for us is that I change her in her sleep before I go to bed. In our case I found she's more "productive" between the time she sleeps and say 10 or 11pm. I tried to see if I could regulate her water intake so that she drinks more earlier in the day but most days it's a struggle to get her to drink enough and for some reason she seems really keen to drink water later in the afternoon so I don't want to compromise that so I let her be and keep changing diapers.... Sorry, not a very sofisticated solution:-) edited by Big blue on 01/10/2013
