Unforseen Hospital Costs?

Good morning all - have heard some horror stories from friends that have delivered here of some unforseen labour costs at the hospital? One friend delivered (natural) at City Hospital about a year back and was informed of the delivery charge of AED 11,000, which her insurance covered. However, after giving birth, she was informed of an additional AED 10,000 because her doctor wasn't full time staff at the hospital. Suffice to say she was able to negociate it down to AED 5000, as her insurance wouldn't cover this cost. Any advise how to avoid this? I'm due in late October and have my first appointment with Dr. Brit at City this month, who is part of the hospital staff. Hoping these unforseen costs don't suddenly crop up.
