So I gave birth exactly a week ago have spent all my time in air con today. Is lovely and dry but I'm worried its too much for my newborn to cope with. What do you suggest I do ? I need vitamin D and want to take baby out in. The pram preferably not to another air con mall. What should baby wear outside? I'm a 3rd timer mum. It first occasion of living abroad with a newborn...... Please help... X

Would the sports bands that my OH uses for golf work? You soak them in water and can wear them against the skin to keep cool I got them from the Emirates Golf Club however do not know how good they are

I second the humidifier. We use a sharp plasmacluster humidifier/ purifier which filters dust/ mild spores etc out if the air, from Carrefour. Pricy but worth it. Both my babies have been born during middle eastern summers. I took them outside from birth, not in direct sunlight but in the shade, stripped down to a onsie or just a nappy in the pram, I did bath time and nudey/ massage time outside each day for probably up to an hour, it's so lovely for them to be able to lax back in the heat, I think a lot of babies hate bathtime just because they get cold. I personally would not use a sunscreen on a one month old, or really any baby under the age of one if avoidable, just keep them in the shade. Your baby needs vitamin d too and daylight exposure is important to them, they can't get it through glass. edited by kiwispiers on 07/07/2013 edited by kiwispiers on 07/07/2013

Not with a newborn, Sounds great where's the best place to get one and rough cost, hubby is out at the mall today so I could get him to collect one. X Wait til he or she is at least a month old then slather with factor 50 for 10 - 15 mins only. Also, dry cool air is not great for them, if poss buy a humidifier, it has been a lifesaver for us and produces a lovely swirly noise for baby as well. When we stay at hotels I wake up with the driest nose and throat in the mornings, and we add nice smells to our humidifier.
