We waited a year...that was also the recommendation of the doc. But you should be trying at the right times and make sure you are both nice and healthy during this year.
As far as the rest of your questions, there are many treatments/procedures (based on your doc's recs.) and as many prices and timeframes to go with them. I suggest you first, check with your regular OBGYN and talk to her/him about your concerns. Also ask about these different types of treatments/procedures, which ones he/she can do and which ones you need to consult a specialist for.
