when to get the coil?

My baby is 3 months old and i am considering getting the coil fitted. Never had one before, but i read its inserted during the period. Periods can be tricky during breastfeeding (had very slight spotting last week) and i really dont want to use c*nd*ms till then. Any experience regarding that? And, although i hate the idea of hormones in my body, any recommendations for the hormonal intrauterine system?

Thanks

Hi I had the coil fitted about a month ago. I'm also EBF my DS who is mow 3 months old. I was told you can get it fitted regardless due to the fact that the opening of your uterus is slightly open after childbirth. It was slightly uncomfortable during fitting. The hormones used in the coil are exactly the same hormones your body produces when breastfeeding, hence the lighter/shorter periods. This is my second time using it and happy with it. Like you I don't get on with c0nd0ms. So far so good with the coil.
