thanks- i know someone who was turned away with kids with trikes at the weekend from safa, so I am very wary of it- you can hire bikes in safa, but only for adults and of course the kids want to ride their own! I'll try the ones you mention, and call first so its not a drama on arrival

You are near so many lovely parks. I'd recommend starting with Zabeel, hands down my favorite park in Dubai. Go on SZR towards Sharjah, at that roundabout follow the signs for stargate or zabeel- you'll see the park. It's huge, has a fantastic play area and bikes are definitely allowed.

Al Barsha park is absolutely lovely and has a cycling track around it, you can hire buggies and things as well, so is completely set up for this. Also a few play areas for the kids too - and no charge! It is absolutely lovely! Sorry, you are probably going to ask for directions, but I am hopeless with them, and just went there for the first time last night (driven by DH), but it is near the new big co-op in Al Barsha ..

my under 4's have bikes with little stabilizers and want to ride them in the park, or somewhere safe at least. We live in an apartment nr difc. I heard that it is not allowed in safa park, and I don't want to get them all excited and at the park to be told we can't come in. the toddler has a tricycle I push with a stick. Are scooters allowed as well? any help would be great, thanks!
