Hi again! Well I've finally gotten my doctors nurse to pull her finger out and she went and reviewed my files and spoke to my doc who then put a request for my anomaly scan. Something she said shed do about 8 weeks ago. So I'm now waiting for a call from the radiology department in Belhoul to tell me my appointment. I know everything is fine but to set my mind at ease I really want to have this scan. At home it's a very standard thing and you are automatically booked in so I thought it was of great importance that I have it done. Lovely nurse, lovely doc but I would not recommend Belhoul speciality. Purely for how unorganised they are. Not what u want with your first baby! Take care ladies and thanks for all the info!

I vomited the ENTIRE duration of my first pregnancy - several times a day in first trimester and at least once a day in subseqent semesters. I was exactly the same weight the day I gave birth as my preconception weight ( I was "normal" weight prior to conceiving but prob 10kgs heavier than in my athletic days) but my DH was still born at 4.1kgs! Doctors just said that they'll take what they need. I would think that if scans/checkups are OK and baby is developing normally that there's nothing to worry about.

Hi Bubbles The anomaly scan is not conducted anywhere except the Nine Clinic and the FMC (Fetal Medicine Centre) so I doubt Belhoul was doing the anomaly scan for you (I may be wrong). It is not a standard scan and therefore not covered by insurance - these are the only two places I was told do the scan in Dubai. It costs 1,000 - 1,250aed and takes about 30 - 45 mins as they do a detailed check of every single organ, growth rate, baby's size and head circumference, length of femur etc, brain. During my standard scans, the Dr makes measurements and checks heart, brain etc but anomaly took longer. Maybe double check or do a search on here in case anyone else got theirs done at Belhoul. You should get a really detailed report with all the percentiles of growth. City Hospital don't do the anomaly scan. Medcare, American, Latifa, Belhoul all do. There are also other clinics that do them as well. It depends on the hospital how much they charge, not all clinics or hospitals give you a report most just give it directly to your dr. I've had 3 babies and with all 3 of them the anomaly scan was only 20 minutes, 1 was at Corniche Hospital in AD, 1 was at Latifa Hospital and the other at Medcare.

So happy you've said that as I just booked with dr George! I asked the receptionist when they take bookings for anomaly scans and she said between 20-22 weeks. So ill be 26 weeks when I see him. Better than nothing I guess! I called my doctors nurse to ask her what my last scan was, she didn't have a clue. So I asked if the doctor performs all the anomaly scans there in the hospital. Also, hasn't the faintest idea of what I was asking her. Then she finally said the doctor needs to send a request for you to have the anomaly scan.i thought she did as I was told by my doc to come and have it done that week. I'd say most of these issues are down to her being unorganised. So we'll see how the next appointment goes! Good luck with your weight gain! ; )

Can you recommend a good doctor in city? Preferably a female. I seen some recommendations for nine clinic in HCC, so I've just called and managed to get a booking for 3 weeks time. Times like these I really can't wait to get home and have health care that I know I can trust.

Hi mmmmm ( great name btw!) I called and called and called again to make sure I was having this scan before I went in. And I got shouted at by some rude nurse telling me I needed the radiology dept. so I managed to speak to my actual doctor after 2 days of trying and she said her nurse was wrong and she would do the anomaly scan herself. But there wasn't really anything different with that scan to my previous ones. Plus we only paid the regular amount. So I've been curious ever since. I think Might try another hospital. Although I don't want to, the thought of starting again with another doc is a bit annoying. Especially as ill be heading home in December.

Hi all, I had my anomaly scan done in FMC but only because the lady who normally does the scans in my clinic in HCC was on leave so you can get it done elsewhere apart from Nine of FMC (sorry TDB). Maybe the position of the baby did not allow them to measure everything? Why dont you call the clinic up and ask for a copy of the scan results as you should receive this. At least that way, it will put your mind at rest... I would imagine that your doctor would have noticed on your file if you had not had the anomaly scan carried out as it is an important one. I would just call them to check!

Hmmmm, no I didn't get anything. She just said that everything looked normal. I've had ideas of changing hospitals and I think now I will. My last visit when I was 21 weeks was booked for 10:30 in the morning and I only got to see her at 1pm! Not only that, to get a frigging appointment requires at least 7-8 phone calls! Right, this calls for a new thread! I'm so annoyed. I even called my doctor and the hospital to confirm before the appointment that I was having anomaly scan. My doc even said she would perform the scan herself. Which I thought was odd as I've heard your regular doc doesn't do these type of scans. Thanks for the info!

I had my anomaly scan at 21 weeks. Or so I think it was my anomaly scan. Belhoul speciality hospital is rrrrreeeealllly difficult to deal with. She did a 4d scan but my little lady sat with her hand over her face the entire time. So we didn't manage to get a good pic. Can I ask about your anomaly scan? Mine took about 20 mins, she did some measuring, checked the heart rate and chambers etc. as I'm a major worrier I googled all about detailed scan before my visit and what to expect and most sites said it would take about 45 mins and would cost a bit more. Mine only cost the usual amount that my previous ones cost. We thought the receptionist made a mistake and went on our merry way. But now I'm not sure if she has done the detailed scan or not.

Hi dangerous blonde, Congrats on your pregnancy! You are so right! No one says your bump looks right on track! I find I'm my own worst critic though. I have another friend who is a week ahead of me and I freaked out when I seen her bump was far bigger than mine. Not being a skinny mini I expected my bump to be enormous by this stage, it is there, just not as big as other ladies I've seen at the same week as me. My last scan was at 21 weeks and the doc didn't comment on anything to with my weight or the baby's. so I guess that's good. Best of luck with your LO! It's getting very close for u!

Hi there, I have a 3 month old baby girl. In my pregancy, I lost weight too because I fell sick 3 times (fever, food poisoning,) and took antibiotics and lost my appetite for weeks. In my 6th month I was only 1 kilo more than my prepregnancy weight and was worried too. By the end of my pregnancy I had only gained 3.5 kilos! I was very concerned it would affect the baby, but Alhamdulilah (praise be to God) I have a healthy girl, she was small when she was born (3 kilos/6 pounds 8 ounces, I think due to my little weight gain) but now she is thriving and her weight is in the 97th percentile! I had her at 39 weeks. I also didnt see an increased appetite throughout my pregnancy, I craved weird things but never ate alot even in my 9th month, so I wouldnt worry about it if I was you. As long as the baby is gaining weight in your checkups thats whats important. Just remember to take your vitamins regularly, and eat healthy. I think the 'eating for 2' isnt for everyone. Good luck!

Hello Bubbles, congrats with your pregnancy! My doc told me before, that if you have some extra weight in your body, its very normal to loose some during pregnancy, baby is consuming what you actually dont need. They have to monitor if your baby is gaining weight & growing. Keep on eating healthy meals. But i`d ask doctor again about it, just to be sure & it`ll make you feel relaxed. All the best :)

Hi fellow preggies, I know this is not something a lot of women want to hear, but I'm into my 6 month now and I gained only half a kilo. Plus, I lost 5 kilos in the first 4 months from morning sickness and lack of appetite. Before anyone snaps at me, I am/was a curvy girl ore-pregnancy. But I feel a bit concerned that I'm not gaining any of it back. I get hungry but never like i was before I was pregnant and my morning sickness and all of that stopped maybe 6-8 weeks ago. My doc has never commented on it but my visits are always so rushed, I wonder has she noticed! Just wondering if any other ladies have experienced this? Do I need to force myself to eat more!? X
