yes i think the rear facing is safer from what i heard i just always worried about my sons little feet/legs getting smushed / broken if there were an accident... but better his legs then him not being in the safest position :) and it does go up to 50 lbs which like i said my son is almost 4 and he is still in it... he weighs about 40 lbs now so it will last you for a long time. i dont know if it can latch with the clips both ways or not? i would think it could... if you google the name evenflo titan i think you might be able to pull up online instructions so it should be able to tell you. i will also look and see if i still have my instructions... i usually keep that kind of stuff.

She is almost a year old but is a tall child. It probably won't be super comfortable for her legs in the rear facing position but I believe that it is now recommended to try and keep them rear facing as long as possible. It sounds like your car seat can be fixed with the Isofix clips (i think that's what they are called?!) - am assuming that can be done for both forward and rear facing positions? And I see that it goes up to 50lbs which is almost 25kgs (well 22.7) so that's pretty good!

how old is she??? we also bought the attachment for the carseat for when we travel on an airplane... it works great for transporting the carseat and child through the airport but it is a bit of a pain getting it situated in the seat. when we buckle it in forward facing on the plane sometimes the position of the seatbelt pokes in the back, its not bad though and i just fold a blanket and put back there my son has never complained with ours you can use the seat belt or the clips... not sure what they are called but its like a strap on the carseat with a clip on the end that hooks to a hook in the car... we are always taking it in and out so we dont use them but there is one at the top and there was one or 2 at the bottom cant remember because i removed them because they were getting in the way. the straps on the carseat where it buckles can sometimes get twisted and can be annoying... over all its been a perfectly fine seat we have had it since my son was 1, he will be 4 in feb and he is still riding in it, (almost too tall for it though, we will have to move up to a new one soon) also we never used it rear facing so i dont know how it sits/ would be adjusted in the car... thinking about it though if your daughter isnt small it might smush her feet to the back of the seat of the car? but again i have no experience using it rear facing.

Thank you for your replies ladies. ShannonB - the carseat you mentioned seems to have most of the features we are looking for, but how do you install it in the car? Can it be tethered/latched or do you have to use the seatbelt? SweetLily - I wrote to Hakan at carseat.se and he wrote back already and has given me a few options. The Axkid Kidzofix actually fits all our requirements, but I had not actually considered the aspect of traveling with the seat! And the reason i was thinking of the convertible car seat was JUST IN CASE DD gets to a point where she completely refuses to sit in a rear facing seat or if she starts getting car sick sitting rear facing (which seems to be the case with several babies on here!)...

There are very few car seats that go up to 25kg. I think only 2 in the world. But Britax do one. We have the Britax Hi-way 2 and bought it though Carseat.se. They are in Sweden and had the seat to us within a week. The guy who owns the shop is really helpful also. So, if you have any questions about anything just give him a call. We chose the Britax Hi-way 2 because it is small and light enough to fit on the plane also (in a seat or to check in) and it can be rearfacing up to 25kg. http://www.carseat.se/store.html We haven't found anything rear facing much past a year here. So I think this site is the way to go. Hope that helps.

mine is how you describe... the brand is evenflo i will have to look at it tomorrow in the car to tell you specifically the name of it. we didnt buy it here though... i would look at babyshop (we bought ours at babyshop centerpoint in kuwait) i know for sure you can order online from amazon or babies r us.. and other places in the states but the shipping would probably be expensive.

Sorry ladies I know this has been discussed on here several times before, but I still cannot find all the information I need. DD is already almost 12kgs and we need to move her into a bigger carseat (I've just realized that we should have done this when she hit 9kgs!!). I would ideally like to continue with a rear-facing car seat for now with the option to make it forward facing later on if possible - we went to Just Kidding, and either the rear facing ones go up to 18kgs only or there is a convertible one but that can only be fixed with the seat belt. My question is that does anyone make a car seat that will go up to 25kgs, be convertible, i.e. rear facing for now and can be turned around to be forward facing later, AND can be fixed with the isofix clips? I am also searching online but I would love to hear from someone who has personally tried one of these?
