Am very sorry to hear about your experiences ladies, I believe you are talking about ZH Dubai. I delivered there in October and also had my prenatal appointments there. Dr Pramila is no longer there and I was seeing the second-most experienced doc there. I agree that they are not pro-natural birth...they didn't even ask for my birth plan and in labour, I was too tired to resist IV etc anyway. And yes, I am one if the emregency c-secs too, but to give them the benefit of doubt, I was in labour for over 20 hours, my baby's head was not engaged, I was having inefficient contractions and they tried induction too without much progress. I was warned that the docs there are commission-based but I really didn't have a choice because I had just moved here and didn't have insurance. Overall, my experience was not all that bad, except for one prenatal scan with a 'specialist' that I felt was forced. Post delivery, the nurses were very caring and helpful, but I was very pi**ed too when they gave my baby formula immediately after birth. I refused any tests that they 'recommended' so my baby was with me all the time. Just wanted to add my two bit, I would say FTMs avoid ZH if they can.
I'm not sure about Dr. Pramila as I've never had any direct experience with her... but I delivered my DD there 5 years ago and I had a HORRIBLE DELIVERY! My OBGYN was Dr. Rani...
Zulekha is just a huge money making scam... they rush you through appointments, do unnecessary scans, are not pro-natural birth at all (you only have to see the responses in this forum to see the ratio of emergency c-sections!!) they just don't give u a chance to experience a natural birth!
As I approached my due date they would scan me almost every two days and kept telling me my baby was growing bigger and bigger and that i needed to induce as there was no way I could deliver normally if I had such a big baby... and then (since it was my first and I was so inexperienced) I trusted the doctor's advice and went in for being induced... since I was trying to force the baby out when she or my body wasn't ready yet, I didn't progress at all... and finally had to be rushed in for emergency c-section!
They botched up the c-section horribly... I started bleeding in clots, my HB fell from 14 to 7, I went unconscious a day after my suppposed 'recovery time'... all this happened in the middle of the night and we were informed that the hospital didn't have its own supply of O+ve blood (most common group) and my poor husband had to rush to Al Wasl in the middle of the night to source out extra blood as my blood supply needed to be replenished immediately...
Horrible management and admin teams... I have had so many issues with them and written so many letters to them... but all in vain... would have taken them to court if it hadn't been for me being otherwise preoccupied with my little baby...
they even kept taking in DD for unnecessary tests and for long hours... they kept her in the 'audio testing' room for a whole six hours and none of the nurses would tell us where the baby was or what progress the testing had done... and to add to the fire they even fed her formula milk while she was waiting... I was so annoyed...
Anyway... in short... we had a horrible experience and I wouldn't recommend the hospital to anyone... we also only went there due to proximity to our residence... now I'm preggers with my second and due to deliver in Welcare in Feb... my experience at Welcare so far has been very good...
Hord, I'm very sorry to hear about your bad experience and wish you and your baby all the best!
Do you mind to share the doctor's name here on the forum? If you don't want to disclose it here, can u please send me an e-mail to petra26 at gmx dot at ... am due in 2 months and booked in Zulekha hospital.
Good vibes to you and your baby (((x)))
I would not recommend anyone to go there, from my very bad personal experience.. I don't want to go to the details yet as I have made an official malpractice complaint. I will just say my baby girl's hand has been injured due to the inexperienced doctor. and she suffers from erb's palsy (google it)
In order for her to be able to move her hand (close to normal) she will need 2 surgeries before she reaches 9 months.
each costs 100 thousand dirhams.
Don't make my mistake and try to save up on the hospital ... avoid any heartache and look for proper hospital..
I wish all the pregnant ladies all the best ... health for you and your babies...
sorry to hear that, hope your baby gets better as she grows
