Light Show

For those who missed the spectacular light show in Dubai for NYE

If you were celebrating NYE abroad or just didn’t want to get stuck in traffic for NYE in Dubai to watch the Burj Khalifa countdown, then don’t be disheartened.

The world’s tallest building in the world just announced that the light show will continue over the next coming months.

And what an amazing surprise that is.

Giving a chance for all those who missed the memorable light show (or those who want to watch it again, and again and again…).

The light show that was broadcasted to millions on TV and thousands of spectators in Downtown Dubai will continue to run until March 31.

Because all that hard work needs to be praised for at least a couple of months!

And fittingly, it will.

From January 1 until January 5, a shorter version of the NYE 2019 gala light show will be displayed on the Burj Khalifa with the same laser, light and Dubai Fountain Show.

Spectators, tourists and residents in Dubai will be able to watch the NYE show on these timings:

  • Tuesday & Wednesday – 7 pm, 9 pm
  • Thursday, Friday & Saturday – 8 pm, 9 pm, 10 pm

And January 8 onwards, the light show will be displayed once a day from Tuesday to Saturday.

What’s so special about the light show?

Apart from all the hard work that went into making sure the light and laser show was a memorable one for all those celebrating NYE 2019 in Dubai.

The laser and light concoction tells a story about the UAE with the themes of time and progression – it includes a Dhow making its way on the Arabian Peninsula, a pearl picking diver at the bottom of the sea, the moon and more.

The 2019 NYE laser and light show also highlighted the UAE heritage and gave tribute to the UAE’s founding father, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan al Nahyan.

By using quotes and motifs from the late founding father, the light show highlight the journey of the UAE over the years and the accomplishments of the country in 2018 – including the launch of the first UAE-made satellite, KhalifaSat.
