Representing the Red, White, Green and Black – the UAE flag day is happening sooner than you think
Residents in Dubai will have a celebration this week as the country gears to celebrate the UAE flag day.
Taking place on Tuesday, November 3rd, 2020 many government entities and locations around the UAE will be showing support to the country by raising their flags.
The national campaign was launched by HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum in 2013 to show honour to the UAE’s past, present and future.
Previously, the UAE flag day was celebrated on November 3 to mark the anniversary of HH Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan who become the president of the UAE on the day back in 2004.
However, don’t regard the UAE flag day as a public holiday in the country – work and schools will function as normal but entities are expected to show their praise to the UAE.
So expect to see lots of flags being raised by government departments in honour of the UAE and flag decorations across the country.
Here’s what the UAE flag colours stand for
- Red – the sacrifices of older generations
- Green – growth and prosperity
- White – charitable contributions, security and peace
- Black – strength of Emiratis, justice
