Over recent years, residents of Dubai have joined together every Ramadan to arrange one of the most rewarding schemes of the Holy Month: the Ramadan sharing fridges.
Dotted around the Emirate, the initiative is one of the most wonderful things to happen every year, and for Ramadan 2019 - the campaign aims to be even bigger for residents to participate in.
The Ramadan sharing fridges provide free food and beverages to those in need throughout the Holy Month.
It's a grassroots initiative that helps you to extend your home to the less fortunate. These sharing fridges in Dubai allow communities and their residents to give back by donating food, snacks and drinks kept safe in the fridges, and people are invited to come and take as they please for free.

Proven extremely popular over the last couple of years, Dubai's Ramadan fridges were launched by an Australian expat, and in 2017, the Dubai Municipality joined to help strengthen the scheme. Now, the group has over 25,000 members.
For Ramadan 2019, we expect to see several more fridges across the emirate, as well as companies and local businesses joining in to support the initiative. In fact, it is estimated that over 100 people are fed from each fridge per day.
It's one of the easiest ways to participate in the giving nature of Ramadan, and encourage the spirit of generosity during the Holy Month.
The fridges can be found in all parts of Dubai; from Jebel Ali and DIP, to Dubai Marina, Springs, Jumeirah, Dubai Silicon Oasis, Garhoud and as far as Al Qusais.
You can also join the initiative's Facebook page, Ramadan Sharing Fridges, where members can update each other and their neighbours about fridges that require replenishing and to help locate the nearest one to them.

Dubai Ramadan sharing fridges guidelines
The Ramadan Sharing Fridges group is a licensed initiative under the patronage of the Emirates Red Crescent, an IACAD approved charity.
Please note: the license is valid for Dubai only, and only for the duration of Ramdan 2019 - not before, not after.
The group do not rent or sell fridges; individual fridge managers are responsible for sourcing their fridges. Nor does the initiative accept monetary donations.
