Too Old for Dental Braces?
It’s never too late to look, feel and be your best. We at Dr. Michael’s believe that everyone deserves a healthy smile. You too should wear a smile you’re totally proud of.
Braces are not just for kids. In fact, adults make up about one in every five orthodontic patients. Healthy teeth can be moved and corrected at any age. Most orthodontic cases can be adjusted as easily for adults as it is for children. Orthodontic treatments can help straighten crooked teeth or gaps you’ve been all too self-conscious about for years. Give yourself the chance to smile with confidence!

Here are several signs that should prompt you (or your child) to seek consultation with an orthodontist.
- Early or late loss of baby teeth
- Difficulty chewing or biting
- Mouth breathing
- Sucking the thumb or fingers, or other oral habits
- Crowded, misplaced or blocked-out teeth
- Jaws that shift, make sounds, protrude or are recessed
- Speech difficulty
- Biting the cheek or biting into the roof of the mouth Protruding teeth
- Teeth that meet in an abnormal way or don’t meet at all
- Facial imbalance or asymmetry (features out of proportion to the rest of the face)
- Grinding or clenching of teeth Inability to comfortably close lips
Maintaining Tiptop Oral Health
In some cases, teeth may be straight, but the upper and lower jaws may not meet properly. This may lead to other problems like difficulty in chewing and abnormal wearing of tooth surfaces.
Crowded and misaligned teeth are difficult to properly brush and floss. This may cause tooth decay and other gum diseases. Protruding teeth are more susceptible to accidental chipping.
Dentistry has come a long way. Now, you can choose over a variety of options including conventional metal braces, tooth-colored braces, (Incognito) braces that go behind the teeth, clear aligners, retainers and other devices.
Consult your orthodontist and find out the right treatment suitable for you.
