| Last updated on 19 January 2020We expats are fortunate enough to experience the many useful quirks that life here affords us. From car washing while you do your weekly shop, to valet parking literally everywhere to being able to order whatever food you like at whatever time of day.
Indeed, living in a city such as Dubai really does come with comforts we all quickly adapt to. But when it comes to leaving, it's no surprise many might feel disheartened to find certain luxuries are no longer available.
We are spoiled in Dubai, after all. So here's 14 things we're sure every expat leaving the Emirate feels when either moving back home or elsewhere.
Petrol is HOW much?
The low petrol prices in Dubai are most definitely a missed perk when living elsewhere.
Freezing cold, all of the time
The heat, as hot as it might get is one thing we all adore...
Claustrophobic in clothing
Too many layers of clothing. You miss not needing to wear a coat...
Despair at the thought of leaving the house
You miss having EVERYTHING delivered...
That hatred towards the tax-man? It's back again
You miss the tax-free salary, obviously...
You're unmotivated
Where has your ever-increasing ambition the size of Burj Khalifa gone?
Being unphased by supercars
While all of your friends are like MIND BLOWN.
You hate your neighbours
And miss the Dubaian community-feel...
Frustration at the lack of valet services
That 24/7 convenience is long in the past now...
No longer safe
Your keys and wallet are now glued inside your handbag. You miss the feeling of safety.
You're now disgusted in restaurant toilets
They're just not 5* quality, and ALL lack hand towels to dry with.
There's SO much greenery
It might be better for your lungs, yes... But nothing beats Dubai's desert sunsets. And hayfever? Yuck.
Boredom in the car
Your commute has now trebled in length, and you've got to drive 30 mins to the nearest cinema outlet.
Starvation at 3am
What do you mean your local take-away doesn't deliver at this time?
