Meet some of the world’s greatest female writers, entrepreneurs, public figures and beyond of today.
The Emirates Airline Festival of Literature is back with a spectacular line-up spread across three venues and three weekends from 29 January to 13 February 2021.
The programme is full of exciting sessions from all genres, so we have helped you with a shortlist.
In no particular order, here are seven of the most mentioned authors coming to this year's edition of the Emirates Airline Festival of Literature.
1. Malala Yousafzai

Don’t miss this opportunity to hear Pakistani activist Malala, the youngest Nobel Prize laureate, tell her story and share her vision for the future.
She will be joined by her father, Ziauddin Yousafzai, a global education activist and teacher who is currently the United Nations Special Advisor on Global Education and the educational attaché of Pakistan in its consulate in Birmingham, UK.

2. Elif Shafak

Influential novelist Elif Shafak will be exploring her writing and the importance of bridging the gap between the East and West.

3. Oyinkan Braithwaite

Oyinkan Braithwaite, one of the most talked about debut authors today, will be at the Emirates Airline Festival of Literature to talk about her Lagos Noir novel 'My Sister The Serial Killer'.
She is a graduate of Creative Writing and Law from Kingston University. Following her degree, she worked as an assistant editor at Kachifo and has been freelancing as a writer and editor since. Braithwaite has an unflinching, distinct writing style you will not forget in a long time.

4. Avni Doshi

The 2020 Booker Prize nominated Avni Doshi, with her novel 'Burnt Sugar', a sharp, distinct tale of a toxic mother-daughter relationship which received critical acclaim for its "feverish prose".

5. Isabel Thomas

Isabel Thomas is a science writer and author of more than 150 books about science and nature for young audiences.
She was awarded the 2020 AAAS Subaru Prize for Excellence in Science Books, and has previously been shortlisted for the Royal Society Young People’s Book Prize. Isabel also writes for science magazines and works with organisations such as the Wellcome Trust and the University of Oxford to create outreach resources, inspiring children from diverse backgrounds to pursue STEM careers.

6. Victoria Montgomery Brown

7. Irma Boom

Irma Boom is a book designer and editor based in Amsterdam. She has created over 300 books and is known for her artistic autonomy within her field. Her bold experimental approach to her projects often challenges the convention of traditional books in both physical design and printed content.
Boom’s books are in the permanent collection of MoMA New York, Art Institute Chicago, the Vatican Library, and Centre Pompidou in Paris among other institutions.
