How long do you continue weighing your LO's weekly/ fortnightly/ monthly etc...???

As much fun as it is to lugg everything to and from the hospital - I think I've spent enough time there over the last few months and would rather not see that place or any medical place for a while!!!

Once a week. Weigh myself on electronic scales and then with LO then deduct my weight from total, not 100% accurate but enough to put your mind at ease.

Thanks ladies :) He's 3 weeks + 3 adjusted (oh my gosh... such a long way to have come and still so far to go!). They have no problems with me using the scales at the hospital and the girls there even write it down in his little book for him... I just have a very hectic schedule as it is with two older DS's... !

I didn't get scales for that reason (have prem girl) and am worried enough about weight. But I pop into my family docs and they let me use the scales every couple of weeks...depends on your med centre but I don't think they mind. I now don't have appt with the neo natal consultant for 3 months so need the reassurance!

Meals, what is your adjusted age for little Jackson? I got a "manual" for my first so will check to see when they suggest doing weigh ins as I know what you mean about OCD and weighing because I was definitely like that for my first! Found it quite easily... they recommend 2 weeks, 4 weeks, 8 weeks, 3 months, 4 months, 6 months, 7.5 months, 9 months, 11 months and then a full checkup at 1 year Obviously if there are other issues you would change that schedule and it would be figured on adjusted age I am guessing. edited by granola on 12/03/2011

Thanks LD - I've been going weekly since discharge and we're not due for another appointment with the peadiatrician for one more month (for more needles :( yuck!) but I figure I should probably still be weighing him weekly until then... If I bought a scale for home I would definitely become very OCD!!! It's why I don't have one now... I'd be weighing after a bad feed to check volume taken etc!!! ;)

Preemies are different though. You could just buy a set of baby scales and weigh him regularly at home (don't go OCD though). They should be avaiable at most big pharmacies.

Same as AnonDubai..I do it only at his regular ped visits. But I weigh him atleast once in 2 weeks at home using our digital scale..First weigh myself alone and then weigh myself with DS and calculate the difference :)

Honestly, I never weighed my LOs outside of their government scheduled check-ups.
