Hello

My husband is moving over to Abu Dhabi early June and I'm following over with the kids (aged 6 and 8).

Once he's got his residency sorted he can sponsor us. Does anyone know if the kids physically need to be in UAE to process visas etc or if I come over and bring their attested birth certificates, passports etc can we do it without them?

They start school early Sept, but I'd prefer not to have to spend August in AD if possible.

Thanks

Thanks everyone. Sounds like my husband should be ok taking their passports with him along with attested birth certificates, photos etc and he can then bring them back with him when he pops home for a long weekend.

They do not need to be here. You need attested birth certificates, passport copies, photos, etc to go with the visa application for submission. Once via is approved, you can collect the visa and then the child can fly into the country. You can deposit the original visa at the airport just before their arrival.

What passports do you hold? If UK, or Oz or NZ ( and probably others) then you can just come in on a tourist visa at end of August and apply for visas once in the country. If this takes longer than 30 days ( plus ten additional days) you can simply do a visa run to Hatta. When first arrived, we got here a few days before school started and finally got visas,ID cards etc at end of October. My DH then changed jobs and his company took ages to process visas and we did four or five visa runs. It's not a problem depending what passport you hold. The only problem is that you can't get medical insurance until you have visas etc but you may be able to take something out from your home country. Schools keep sending out emails asking for visas but as long as company sends a letter saying in process it should be ok. I can't imagine you can do medicals out of UAE. Make sure you have kids birth certificates and your marriage certificate attested. Get a passport photo of each of you put on disc because you will need loads and loads of photos, lol.

adults need to be in uae to do medical, kids do not need to medical so you can do it for them, provided you have the passport etc.

Thanks Asti That's what I was hoping. I was told I need to be there for a medical. Do you know if they can be done by approved doctors outside the UAE?

They do not need to be here. Just make sure your husband has their birth certificates attested and all the other necessary papers needed plus photos and of course their passports to get the residence visa in. He would have to courier the passport back to you so that you can travel to UAE. edited by Asti on 24/02/2014
