Hi Ladies
Been following this forum for a year or so now, and it is now looking very likely that we are moving out to AD in August, with my husbands work!
Fortunately hubby worked in AD previously for about 2 and half years and we visited him regularly out there, so know a bit about living there. But we were obviously on holiday and realise living there is a whole different experience!!
I have two boys one is 16 and just finished his GCSE's and we have been told there is a place for him at Al Yasmina but no room at the moment for my 12 year old son who will be going into year 8. Is it likely that there may be a place for him in September? Anyone else been in this situation?
Am thinking Al Raha beach/garden to live in, as it seems to fit our budget and near the school. We live in a small market town near Newcastle and know moving over is going to be a bit of a culture shock - am not looking forward to the heat at all :(
Does anyone live at Al Raha and give me some idea which is the best area to live in there? As different styles of housing and areas I believe? Is there a good expat community there?
I currently work as a teacher part time in a small village school? Knew someone who taught out in AD and she didn't have a positive experience. Can you work part time? Any teachers out there willing to give me a true insight into teaching out there?
Anyway thanks in advance for your help, this forum has been such a help for us over the last year. Hopefully we will have a definite offer for hubby's job on Monday then I am sure there will be more questions!
lots of people always in same boat have 2 places but different schools, no places even beg of term etc etc its definately not new.... obviously going into the sixth form but that will be dependant on results of course. if you get into yasmina usually siblings will move up the waiting list.
part time teaching really there isnt much part time work... you can do supply at yasmina or any of the brit schs etc i know bsak was asking for people to go on there list others would be same i would say... also there are new schools opening this year so perhaps you could get a job there.... if you are looking at yasmina sch and that area, there are 3 new schools not too far away.... reach british school and ajyal international and cranleigh.
villas in raha gardens/raha beach will be dependant on your budget etc.
