i believe that the Widad School are currently facing licensing issues and are unable to operate as they were doing. Widad Center is still in operation, however enrollment is for children with special learning needs.

My daughter has some learning delays, especially in Math. Her physical disabilities are numerous but generally do not affect her cognitive functioning. She has a physical therapist who we are so far very happy with. One of the reasons I am interested in the Widad Center is that as I understand it, they allow children to work at their own pace, rather than requiring learning support personnel to attend the child to boost their academic performance. I would be ok with her having a person to assist her physically, but she is able to communicate, answer questions, etc. She is just a bit slower than other children her age. I also have an appointment at the Oasis School for her, fingers crossed!

Hi there, firstly yes schools can choose who they take if you are an expat. Many Dubai schools have only very recently started to include children with disabilities, you don't state your daughters disabilities. My son is at GEMS Wellington Academy DSO, he was accepted with mild autism, he had learning support (at an additional cost) for 3 years from year 9, and is just about to graduate year 13 with a good qualification!!! There are children in the primary school with various learning and physical disabilities - supported 1-1 with a learning support assistant (full time in primary this can be approx 65,000aed on top of the school fees). I believe the variety of disabilities cover, global delay, cerebral palsy and Down's syndrome, and physical disabilities. A couple we know had a severely disabled daughter, although they have returned to the UK, she attended the Al Noor centre in Al Barsha. I hope you find your daughter a suitable place, perhaps some of the therapy centres may be able to offer good advice. Good luck and I hope this helps

Hi, We are new to Dubai. Our daughter is 8, in 2nd grade (U.S.). She has some learning disabilities and some physical ones. We haven't found a school here which quite 'fits' her and where we feel that she would be happy. A few people have recommended the Widad Center, which is a special needs inclusion school, I gather? I've tried emailing, I've left a few phone messages and even drove by the building once, but I don't seem to be able to speak to anyone or to catch it open. Does anyone know how to get in touch with them? Also their website says they have a full-day alternative education program. Does anyone have children in this program and what do you think of it? Lastly, what are the fees? Are there any other inclusion programs in Dubai (special needs and non-special needs kids in school together?) Can schools refuse to admit a child who might have disabilites? Thanks so much!
