Cupping has in fact been around for many years and has been a common treatment in Traditional Chinese Medicine since the 18th century and is a non-invasive way of treating someone. It increases local blood supply to the muscles and skin and therefore makes a perfect partner for massage and chiropractic, in trained environments. Would suggest not knocking it until you have tried it. :) so does it clear blood or brings blood to the muscle...wich one is it...or it does both?

thanks workinggirl and Nuwerra maxindubai - cupping is an alternative therapy that can treat lots of conditions a bit like accupunture. It improves energy flow and clears bad blood. and how exactly does the blood get cleared?

I've had cupping done before, the Arabic style one not the Chinese where they actually let the blood out, and it was amazing. I have realllly tense shoulders, no amount of massages have managed to get rid of the tension but one session of cupping sorted them out for ages. I really want to do it again on a regular basis but lost the contacts of the one I went to and can't find a place that does proper hijamah treatments. It's hardly a wacky concept in this region - the Prophet used to do it.

SJAussie - where do you have this treatment done? Im looking at cupping as an add-on to treat high BP (and before any of you start shouting, yes I have seen a Dr, yes I dont have high salt intake, yes I am exercising and trying to lsoe weight and yes I am taking prescribed meds etdc...). I am looking at acupuncture also and Reiki and adding some alternative therapies to support the usual medical ways. TIA
