Late in the afternoon I know, but at least Im getting some humor... Sandy Balls? Butler's Hard? I can see how one results in another... That's so funny! It is however Bucklers Hard - not Butlers!!!!!! There's a super little hotel there called the Master Builders and I would highly recommend it for a wonderful sunday lunch.

Lymington is a lovely little town with a quay. Would also recommend a trip over to the Isle of Wight where there are lots of great places to visit including Blackgang Chine, Osborne House and Carisbrooke Castle which was always my favourite to see the donkeys turning the water wheel!

have also camped at Sandyballs - its great. Try and go to Butler's Hard - its the most beautiful place. All the buildings are part of a country estate - there is a pub, small chapel and restaurant there. The main areas slops down to the water - can go on a boat trip from there. Beaulieu car museum - great day out. We also got a boat over to the Isle of Wight for a day trip. Also Bournemouth is really clos. Have fun

Claire's quite right, the pubs in the Forest do some lovely food, you'll enjoy it. There are lots of lovely places to shop, can't remember which village has the great shops for Fudge and other scrummy sweets, I want to say Brockenhurst but not 100%.

It always make me laugh, I understand it to be a sort of holiday park but on the nicer side of them. You can camp there, they have TP's if you fancy something a little different or very nice lodges, or you can go in on a day pass.. http://www.sandy-balls.co.uk/:)
