Thanks everyone. I've made an appointment with Moorfields, just speaking to the receptionist gave me confidence!

I agree with Janesul... I had the same situation as you with my almost 6 year old daughter & the school doctor told me I had to get her eyes checked. Friends had recommended Moorfields & they were great. They take it all seriously (which you need to at this age) and test properly. We were there the whole afternoon & the cost was considerably less than taking her to to the doctor here! She is now having to be monitored every few months & whilst it is time consuming, I'm delighted that she is in such good hands. Thoroughly recommend them - I didn't ask for anyone in particular and nor have my friends who have taken their children there but we have all had good experiences. Plus it is all covered under our health insurance which was an unexpected bonus. Hope that helps.

Dr. Habash @American Hosp is excellent for kids. We were v happy with him. Also heard good things about Moorfields.

Ignore my post below as I think I'm speaking rubbish - I'm thinking optician, not opthamologist. Duh!! I think the january detox is affecting my brain!! Going back to sleep...

I had to take my daughter to medcare in order to receive the official prescription. Perhaps, some opthamologists/optometrists are qualified to issue the px, but the one I use is apparently not. By going through medcare, it all went through health insurance (her cost of her frame and lenses were also covered through health insurance).

Take him to Moorfields at Dubai Healthcare City for a comprehensive eye check. I can't recommend them highly enough. You'll see the Orthoptist and also an Opthamologist.

Took him to an optometrist yesterday after recommendation from school nurse. I was less than happy with the results, they could hardly speak English. Can you recommend a good optometrist or ophthalmologist? We live in Umm Suqeim. Thanks.
