Husband's 30th birthday - completely stuck for present ideas

My husband is 30 in a few weeks, I would really love to surprise him with a fantastic present but I can't think of anything at all, would love some ideas!

Things I have thought of and reasons why not:

Wii/PS3 - He is not really into computer games and doesn't have a lot of time to play them

Fancy coffee machine - Would really be for both of us rather than him alone

Clothes - He likes clothes but definitely not enough to get excited about them as a birthday present

Driving experience at Yas Circuit - He loves cars but a friend got one of these as a xmas present and I subtly quizzed my husband who didn't seem that bothered about having a go himself!

iPad - he is anti Mac!!

Nice leather laptop bag - I know he wants one but when I suggested he could have a decent brand for his bday he said he doesn't want one as a birthday present (too boring I think!!)

Watch - this is the winning idea at the moment because he loves watches and doesn't have a good one, however I wouldn't want to choose for him if was spending a lot so would have to take him along to pick, however this would mean it isn't a surprise which isn't ideal

Please help me! I think I may possibly have exhausted all ideas but if anyone can think of anything original I would love to hear it :)

i would highly recommend hiring the double decker bus and do a bar crawl/ drive around Dubai can take up to 30 friends, you can decorate it how you like and take you own 'beverages'! my friends booked it for my surprise 30th party last year and i absolutely loved it!!! Otherwise there are loads of offers on with concert tickets and hotel specials at Yas over the coming weeks maybe get a crowd of you together and do that...

If you have children I can highly recommend getting cufflinks with either their fingerprint or footprint if they are still small. I had ones made for hubby for christmas with our newborn's footprint and he loved it; brought tears to his eyes when he opened his gift.

What about indoor skydiving? I treated my husband to that for an anniversary gift. He loved it and has since returned a few times to do more.

Thanks so much for the ideas, they have definitely given me things to think about. I quite like the cufflink idea, we have friends who have had jewellery made at the gold & diamond park and they said it was a great experience watching the process so I could take him along maybe and he can design his own - not exactly a surprise but still fun. He already has a Mont Blanc pen unfortunately otherwise that would have been perfect! I will have a think :) Now when I have figured out the present I just need to work out what to organise for a night out with all of our friends, arghhh!

What about a Mont Blanc pen with his name engraved on it? Or a nice evening meal at a really posh restaurant, cufflinks, Massage for men at 1847 (great mens salon), Swim with the Dolphins at Dolpin Bay Atlantis Hotel with you and him. Skyride on a seaplane over Dubai? Shisha pipe (if he smokes)? Tickets to a comedy club? It gets harder by the years trust me! Mine turns 40 tomorrow.....I had a tough one with that. Happy shopping and hope this helps. Yeah I like the Mont Blanc idea as well.

I just saw on Facebook that cobone has an offer on helicopter rides over Dubai - reg price 1000 dirhams, down to 549(I think, it was around that anyway). that could be one of the gifts and I think that would be really nice. I wanna go too!!! :)

For my dh 30th I arranged for some gold cuff links to be made ( he wears cufflinks for work and going out). I arranged for them to be made at a place in the gold souk near the moe with his name written in Arabic in the design of the cuff link. The gold price was not as high as it is at the moment. You can also get something similar in ibn battuta in silver - they do lots of different items but last time I ordered something (about a year ago) it took about 10 days! Although it was lovely!
