Corn Flakes have a very high GI value - think I saw a value of 82 and sitting in the red section of the chart.

Special K is much higher in sugar than Kellogs cornflakes. Another marketing trick.Shame on them! edited by fjcruiser on 27/01/2011

I'm sure if you substitute two 'normal' healthy meals for two bowls of cornflakes you'd lose weight. I don't think the fact it's Special K has anything to do with it. I imagine you'd be really hungry as well. I know I get hungry soon after a bowl of cornflakes which is why I don't have it if I don't have any banana to have with it.

Anyone done it? How much did you loose in 2 weeks was it hard or not really? Morning Pentel :-) Sorry for the long post.... Ok so i dont normally go for fad diets. i lost 18kg in 7months between 2008 and 2009 through cutting out snacks eating muesli with skimmed Laban, some form of salad for lunch (incorporating some carbs if i was running in the evening) and something light on carbs and rich in protein and of course salad or veg....weekends i still had the odd shish tawook sandwich, a curry or if i went on the lash, a maccy dees (of course i regretted it after), but the key was exercise....i followed a running program. started at 400m (i was nearly 87kg size 18) and finished in the May at a half marathon and a size 12. (4 days a week running, and nope, i dont have kids so had time) i gained about 4 or 5kg since then, still running, but not as seriously as that 7 month period and reverted a little bit to bad eating....still salads but bigger portion meals in the evening. Not wanting to go shopping for new clothes up to a size 14 again, i started this Special K thing last wednesday and i have lost 2kg. My body shape has changed so its not just lack of food and dehydration from running, the fat is being burnt....this is purely because the diet means i am eating very much less calories than i am burning in everyday activities AND running. they say you dont have to exercise, but even a walk for 20mins every other night will be better than nothing. Is it hard? no not really, it really depends if you eat the amount a horse would in one sitting. i do think generally we eat portion sizes that are a to big for the average person....this diet will shrink your stomach (as in how much you can eat before feeling full) and if you eat a lot, yes, you will find it hard as 45g of special k isnt going to fill you up or keep you full for long....although you can have lots of fruit with it. lunch is a home prepped salad or times square food court offerings....some carbs for running. biggest issue is the skimmed milk...i substitute with Laban as it seems creamier and more filling than white coloured water (skimmed milk). Now, we are all ladies, and honestly if you are breast feeding, probably [b'>not good [/b'>to do this cos yep, they are smaller too....at the end of the day....its fat....(in the original weight loss i went from D to B cup) so you judge if its a good idea when feeding....i think not... I understand the closer you are to "normal" weight using the BMI charts this diet may not have such a striking effect, but on the net you will find plenty of ladies saying 6lb loss in 2weeks is not unheard of with no exercise. i will do it for two weeks and then have a break, but its more to change your lifestyle to continue more healthily apparently....i will give it a few weeks and try again... for the record, a lot of running means this week my kilometerage is 28.1km cumulative, next week increasing to 33.4km, but i can report my blouses and trousers are feeling considerably more comfortable!!! i have also plateaued for the last 3 days.

If you're at all concerned with your milk supply being effected, don't even think about doing any kind of diet unless it's a "healthy, balanced" one (which eating Special K twice a day isn't). You should be eating no less than 1800 cals a day if you are exclusively breastfeeding. With 2 little ones, you'll be losing the excess faster than you know it without even trying. Give your body time to heal and yourself space to enjoy motherhood without worrying about your figure.

Thanks Pental that's very interesting read, I guessed that it would not be a good thing for bubs even if it would for me oh well, guess I'll just have to try walking a bit more, easier said than done with a DH away most of the time and two little ones to look after. Wish I could just get my clothes done up so I can get outta these darn strechy/loose dresses I wore when I was pregnant.
