Hi Expat,

I seek your advice –in the near future I would like to open beauty salon, but I am confused Canada vs Dubai,
I have seen here the very high competition and the sponsor fee which is 51% . not my favourite thing………..
Canada high labour cost what is your advice for me.....................

You only need a local agent not 51% owner to open a salon, as salons fall under a professional license not LLC.

hi Icedqueen, free zone is very expensive................ You should weigh up the costs of a non freezone - incl sponsor fees and then a freezone. you may need to cough up more cash upfront for your business license and subsequent annual renewals but what are your costs with a sponsor since they own 51%. First do the maths as you may come up short with one of the options. Are you working on a business plan as yet?

Do more research - 51% refers to ownership (you must have an Emirati sponsor who has a majority share in the business) - this is not the same as the profit sharing split. Recommend you visit the Dubai Chamber of Commerce website and do your homework.
