I did not say it isn't! But the equivalency charts are age based not work or curriculum content based. In year 1 children do spelling tests, grammar and multiplication; none of these are covered in kindergarten. edited by Irooni on 29/01/2011 edited by Irooni on 29/01/2011 Not sure what your point is but: - In Kindergarten children are being taught the building blocks of multiplication (ie grouping, counting by multiples, etc). - Testing at such a young age (5-6) can be very stressful and has little scholastic purpose (ie a child's testing ability is not an indication of how he/she will do in later more advanced grade levels). - Grammar is covered heavily in reading. - Spelling rules are absolutely covered. Just because the method of learning is different, it's not to say they aren't covering the same skill set.
