Little Poppet might be a good person to put this question to. She was recently telling me about a family trip she did to Europe last year (not sure which country-sorry). It was an all-inclusive stay at a ski resort. They had great kids clubs so the parents were free to go hiking/visit wineries etc on their own during the day if they wanted. She said the whole family loved it. I sure did! It was *amazing*! We stayed in Alp de Huez in France in a ski chalet in the early summer (we were there in July). There was excellent child Care every day for all age groups. Each morning after breakfast, the child care girls (all English) came and collected the kids from us and had planned activities for them each day- horse riding, frog catching, hiking, roller blading, crafts, they even put on an end of the week show- fab. At the same that the kids were collected, we were each given a little care package for lunch- sandwiches, fruit, drinks, snacks etc so we had lunch catered for as we did our own thing and hiked, visited the local chatuex, saw the Tour de France as it came by etc. Each afternoon, the kids are given ‘high tea’ in the dining room and then later that night they are either asleep in their room (the chalet was completely secure) with a nanny stationed at each room or the older ones went to a kids club to watch movies or do crafts. At this time, the parents met downstairs in the bar for aperitifs and then later dinner. After dinner, you collected your kids from the kids club or simply returned to the room to let the nanny go. Of course, the kids don’t have to be in the kids club each day- you can take them out and about as you see fit but ours loved going so much they didn’t miss too many sessions. Every meal was included (also wine and beer)- usually 4 courses at dinner, hot breakfast and the packed lunch. Kids club was included They also do the same Summer holidays in Switzerland and other parts of France. We would definitely do one again. What about Turkey or Croatia? You may have to take an internal flight to get to the resort but I think they are both much cheaper than the western part of The Med.

Rent a villa in Cyprus through ownersdirect. Will still be very hot, so you need one with a pool. Rent an apartment in Malaysia. The flights are not terribly cheap, but it's not that expensive once you are over there. Cyprus is soooo expensive for food much more expensive than here !!! True.........but the wine's cheap! Hic! ;);)

IF it's Europe, then I suggest Portugal for value for money and great beaches, Atlantic is ****** cold though !!! South of Italy, Puglia or Calabria. The Med is just so overpriced and overcrowded in the summer. Bali would be nice too, maybe a bit humid at that time of year ??

The flights are not terribly cheap, but it's not that expensive once you are over there. Cyprus is soooo expensive for food much more expensive than here !!! True.........but the wine's cheap!

Thailand or Malaysia or cover both countries. For 3 weeks in Malaysia, you can cover KL, Penang and Langkawi. I would even recommend Sabah over Langkawi. Fly internally using airasia - www.airasia.com. If you want to cover Thailand, you can fly airasia there as well to either Phuket or Bangkok. Cheap hotels, foods and transportation for both countries.

Cancun is one of my favorite places to stay but if you go, stay at an all inclusive resort and stay on the resort. The violence in Mexico has really gotten bad lately but if you stay on the resort compound you'll be fine. But you should know that Cancun in July is ungodly humid.
