In shock, this week so far i have had quotes for terraced apartment curtains

Jamal = 7000
Amman = 12,750 (yikes)

Anyone else had decent quotes for MC terraced apartments?

Think i am living in cuckoo land was thinking it would be about 5000 (note to self this is Dubai)

Thanks Ladies, i did opt for the cheaper material as they are really only for show, didnt think of Ikea making the curtains are they any good? The problem is the windows are huge in terraced apartments as they are sliding doos / windows combo, might give dragon mart a go i only want plain beige coloured fabric as i dont want to start changing all my furnishings just something neutral. You will get it done for wayyyy less than 5,000 from Dragon Mart. Spend the day there asking questions chatting at each shop and by the end of the day you'll be an expert at bargaining.

You should seriously try Dragon Mart. They use the exact fabric as many guys from Satwa and Karama. They all get it from textile city in any case. The only difference is that they won't measure and give you that personal service. We did the main bedroom embroidered voil + crushed taffeta with blackouts and that cost 1600 for 2m+2m width in Karama. We did DD's room in a lovely fabric 2.4m with blackouts for 300 and a black extending rod from ikea. Big difference!

We lived in an apt that was all patio doors - massive massive expanses of glass. We had barely any money to spend so did this: In our living/dining room I had voiles made and then "show" panels for the ends. This gave a good level of privacy and blocked the sun enough when the sun streamed in, but was cheap(ish). As this was the only room that was "on show" we spent a bit more in that room. For the bedrooms (again - massive - all patio doors) we bought poles from ikea (black metal that extend) and the cheap tab top curtains (beige or cream) and used them. I interlinked the last tabs on the pole at each of the "joins" of different panels. e.g in our bedroom I needed six panels (3 pairs of curtains) to cover the glass. I interlinked 3 panels for both sides (leaving the gap in the middle so they could open). It wasn't the most ideal option ever, but it did us fine. Maybe an option? It didn't cost us over 5k for all of it! 3 bedrooms (each with 3 pairs of curtains in them) and then the posher voiles and show panels for the lounge/diner. We have used the ikea making service at other times too and been happy with that. We want to have voiles done in the sitting/dining. Where did you buy your material from and do you remember how much it cost per yard? The ones I found cost around Dhs20 and I'm scared it's too cheap so maybe the quality wouldn't be that good. tia

Mine is Muneer 0507-694904. But my guess is that the price difference between the two quotes you got is mostly to do with material. For the exact same material all will give you almost the same price. I went for a relatively inexpensive material...aed 45 pm i think......lovely white with embossing...but in the end its a bit stiff fr curtains and the fall is'nt very nice. So do consider the fabric.

Why don't you try Amrit in Satwa? I also found him to be very reasonable. However, as someone already mentioned, you do have to steer clear of the expensive material if you're on a budget. Otherwise you can always try Ikea (already mentioned), Dragonmart and other home department stores such as Home Centre, Homes R Us and Pan Emirates.

If you are wanting non fancy curtains ikea are one of the cheapest. If you want fancier you sn deal with jeseel their tailor direct. I have had ikea do some stuff and then got jeseel to mske my roman blinds and curtains with the eyelet fixings he was very reasonable and did a superb job.
