DS just got better from a bout of rotavirus. Today he had a mushy, pale poo with undigested carrots and other bits in it (sorry, TMI!) and tonight he projectile vomited his entire dinner and bottle. Could he have rotavirus again?

I took him back to the doctor just now and he says it's either a minor tummy upset or teething. Phew! Poor wee guy. But the doc says he can't get it again now he's had it :\:. Will it be a different version of it?

Yes, babies can get rotavirus more than once. Each time they get it they build up immunity so it isn't as bad as the time before.

He's nine months, and he's been clear of the rotavirus for a couple of weeks now. I was all set to get him back on normal formula :(. He's been off his food for the past couple of days but I'll stick to bland bits if he'll eat, thanks :).

I'm not a doctor, but I think he needs to be on a very bland diet until he gets better, i.e. no butter, eggs, milk, meat. When DD was a toddler and was like this, we fed her mainly water, crackers, rice cakes, yoghurt (supposed to be good for this even though dairy) and banana for a few days. Don't know if you are doing this already. Forgot to ask how old is DS? I assumed he was a toddler eating solids. edited by Sugarbeach on 09/03/2011
