Hi

I am coing over to Dubai in a couple of weeks for a month.

I dont want to use my UK phone because roaming charges are extortionate. Are there any local phone packages that anyone could recommend ..pay as you go type, that will allow me to do texts back to the UK but cheap.

Also anyone stayed at the Golden Sands 10 and is it accessible to everthing?

Thanks

xx

Sending texts from the UK to a UAE number is expensive, but you receive them free. What we did with our kids before they converted to Blackberry's and BBM's was keep 2 phones active 24/7, then we'd receive texts on the UK number but text back from UAE phone (as international texts are cheap from here). With calls - try to use only Skype, if you are bringing a laptop make sure it is installed before you leave the UK as it can be difficult to download here! I think Du SIM cards are free, when you arrive check out the options, we only have 2 suppliers here Du and Etisalat! Enjoy your stay in Dubai! edited by Cornish Pixie on 13/03/2011

Haven't stayed there but it is close to Burjuman and walking distance to the Metro. It is in old Dubai so I guess it depends what you need to be close to. I am sure you have looked at their website http://www.goldensandsdubai.com/index.php?act=blockdetail&goldensandId=3 There is a link to a map there
