I know I'm busy, I have two small kids and a large 4 bed villa with no help but I'm not the only one. I do still get woken most nights even if it's just for a few minutes but I find I'm exhausted in the evenings. as soon as I sit down my body and mind seem to hit a wall of exhaustion. Anyone else have this? I know exercise would help but simply have no time right now :-(

the problem with relying on leafy greens (and apologies CT) is that to get the health benefits..including iron etc, you need to consume about 6 kilos of it (an exaggeration yes, possibly, but you know) whereas, you can get much more punch for your buck with a small serving of proper lamb or beef. And I was a vege for 20+ years too. AA, hubby is just going to have to put up with you having an early night once in a while. Tiredness, lack of sleep can be very detrimental to your health both physically and mentally, you NEED rest. It's not a negotiable thing. You can't function properly without it and it can lead to a spirallling of events that is detrimental to everyone in your household. I know it sounds easy for me to say it, but can you put the kids in a stroller and walk even for 15 or 20 minutes a day? Forget the washing up, leave it where it is and leave the house. Just walk in the fresh air. The dishes (or whatever) will be there when you get back and so long as there isnt anything actively medically wrong with your health, you'll be energised on your return and ready to tackle the day.

I think it's the sunshine that makes me tired! I was in bed at 9pm last night (and that's because I was dozing off on the sofa) and slept unitl 6.30 (and not even the call to prayer woke me)...bliss! I think we sometimes feel under pressure to keep grown up hours, when in fact children's bed times can be better! PS to OP....get someone in for a few hours a week, even just half a day, and have some me time :) Suze that sounds awesome but doesn't Dh get crabby that you are going to bed early and don't have time for him?

said by a man, of course :D If DH suffered from disturbed sleep I might sleep better as his snoring is definitely part of the problem! :-)

DR Raymond Hamdan was saying on Dubai Eye yesterday that we all need 6 hours unbroken sleep a night! That sounds blissful :)

Good excuse for a packet of salty crisps :D Or a nice green salad with plenty of dark leaves dressed with olive oil, balsamic and sea salt. Dark leafy greens have an assortment of nutrients including vitamins A, C, E, and K, folate, iron, and calcium. They are also a great source of fibre and some are a good source of omega-3 fatty acids. Many of these nutrients aid restful sleep and energy reserves. :)

Oh Andy...I hear you!! I agree with the suggestions to go and see a good GP and have all possible health issues ruled out. Dubai London Clinic does a great "Well Woman" check that doesn't take too long. Eat well, rest when you can, get some gentle exercise and spoil yourself once in a while. BIG hug from Aus. xxx

Not much you can do. I just suck it up and get on with it. Hehe!

I'm always tired, I think doing school runs doesn't help and the kids wanting your constant attention so when they are in bed your body just shuts down!

Why don't you get someone in weekly to do the cleaning, ironing and gardening AA? Still not totally comfortable after having to sack the last one for stealing. I also feel that I should be able to do it as if I were home I wouldn't have a maid. Silly I know

It's normal for mums who do everything, the change in weather also brings an added element of triedness.

Start writing down how you are feeling, if you struggle to get up, when you are tired etc etc , periods, any information that would help as we do not always remember everything. Go and visit a doctor who will listen and not just jump to conclusions. As ladies have suggested get your thyroid and Vit B levels checked. If you can manage to get some help a few hours a few times a week, it would be wise, we are not super women no one is superwoman and if someone says they are , ignore ! Some people disagree with maids help but in todays world when far from the old fashioned family support within the home which has been gone for some countries for numbers of decades and may be the reason it is shunned as they never grew up with it. Get to bed early and check what you are eating , are you eating well. I hope you will feel better soon and please follow the good advice these ladies have given you , it could be very simple and show up in a blood test and be sorted. Its normal when you’re a busy mum. Get some vitamins, eat healthily and drink lots of water. I would also go for a blood test just to make sure.

Have you had your thyroid checked? I struggled for years and then last year was diagnosed with hypothyroidism.

Me.... No kids (of my own) but very busy and exercise a lot! My eyelids are on the floor and I'm off to bed in a minute. Such a livewire.

have a blood test for Vit D deficiency. I was nearly asleep at 7pm when mine was at its lowest.
