Dr. Loubser is the one that recommended it for our DS and a friend's LO. Unfortunately its in pill form so it had to be cut etc. Although Canada has it in liquid form I was just told. infacol and gripe water were temporary fixes for mine. I would make sure you have the right diagnosis though since there are many causes for similar symptoms. But I definitely wouldn't keep my LO on something that wasn't working. We went back with ours and for a while he had to be on two different types of meds. The other one I can't remember... it was a liquid and started with a D

TMac - unfortunately Infant Gaviscon is not available in Dubai! No idea why :\: Shaf - try 1ml Gripe Water + 1ml Infacol + 3ml water. Give half in the morning and half later in the day or when needed! DD suffered terribly from winds and gas at around the same mark as your DD! I struggled for weeks giving her everything i could, until Cecile recommended this mixture! She was able to break winds easier and seemed more "settled" DD also had esophageal reflux from about 4 weeks until about 12/13 weeks! Infant Gaviscon calmed her down when she was in pain and screaming the roof off! Another thing that also helped was giving her smaller feeds so that her tummy can digest a little at a time! The minute she ate too much - vomit everywhere :( She is 16 weeks now and **fingers crossed** we have not had a throw up in 2 weeks now, so i am hoping she has outgrown it already!

Wow srdoucet really:\:!!! GRRRR! That makes me angry, that we were told to pretty much deal with it!!! Are those medications intended to be used in infants? Anyway glad to know that there are options here! Hate to see him cry in pain! Guess we are going back to the doctor!

TMac who is your pediatrician?? Our DS had reflux and no the silent type. He was put on Losec. A few I know had their little ones on zantac. My DS had it quite bad. Projectile vomit every day at least once, screamed hysterically for hours, gas pains, hiccups, p00p was dark green and runny. I couldn't breastfeed and it wasn't staying in him anyways so we had him on S26 AR. By four months I switched him off of the AR formula and gradually introduced him to similac. By 6 months he was taken off of Losec. We also started laying him flat around 4 months.... of course at least half an hour after he ate. He's now 8 months and you wouldn't guess that he had reflux. He's smiling all the time, active, doesn't throw up unless he over eats or has a pain from those darn teeth coming in.

Shaf, your post could have been mine!!! We are in the exactly same situation, also have a screaming 6 weeks old at home only that he is a boy! Our screaming started a while back, but got MUCH worse this week. We initially thought it was colic too! I agree with Glitzi, it could be acid reflux...that's what we found out is causing our babies pain. I had a lactation consultant come to my house two weeks ago and she said right away that it might be silent reflux...once she said that, I totally started to see all the signs: crying after or during feeds, often hick ups, hates to lay flat, gagging noises, stuffy nose. She warned us that it could get worse around 6 weeks! We saw a pediatrician and he told us that there are no real infant reflux medications available in the UAE:\: . ([b'>G[/b'>[b'>litzi where did you get infant gaviscon from??? Was it here in the UAE?[/b'>) So we are stuck using infacol and gripe water...just like in your case it doesn't help. The gripe water is sweet, so he will stop crying for a few minutes but then start all over again! We try to keep him in the upright position as much as possible...which means we carry him all day long! :( I got a wrap carrier and that helps with that nad for night we got one of those wedge pillows. Other than that I found some studies suggesting using probiotics to help with reflux/colic so I ordered some infant probiotics from the States and started taking large doses of probiotics myself. Not sure if that changed anything yet. I doubt it's anything you eat, but if you want to be absolutely sure do an elimination diet (google it), if there is no change within few days than you can be sure that she isn't reacting to any foods. I did that diet, and nothing changed. Glitzi you give me hope saying that your DS reflux stopped at 10 weeks, our doctor said that it could last up to a year! :( Hope not! Shaf, it could be reflux. Infant Acid Reflux often goes undiagnosed as many think it is colic. Reflux babies also have a lot of abdominal wind and have symptoms that are very similar to colic. DS had silent reflux from when he was 4 weeks old. Initially we thought it was colic and did the usual infacol/gripe water etc.But that really did not help and he was always crying and so distressed. Later he was diagnosed with reflux and the irritability is because of the acid from their stomach travelling up and causing the pain & burning sensation :(. He was on infant gaviscon and it worked really well. Simple things like elevating his cot mattress and keeping him upright for 30 mins after each feed also helped. His reflux lasted until he was about 10 weeks and now its all fine. Maybe you already know about this but just thought will share our experience as we initially wasted some time thinking its colic. We got Bonnisan from the doctor against gas, it's more liquid than infacol and on herbal basis.

6 weeks IS the typical time for another growth spurt. Otherwise, if you're convinced it's gas there are ways to get it under control... You say you've been using gripe water and infacol - use them each feed to make the most of their benefits. Long, deep, warm baths will help the wind move around. Cycle her legs. HTH
