Well, I think I just need to book something by then and can travel later, we are the sad 'Stay in Dubai all summer' people!

Sadly this is how I read it too :( Oh well, there go all my DH's skywards miles :) :) IF you have no other way of using them before they expire, go and spend them on Emirates High Street, at least you might get some products :) buy a Fat Boy or something :):):)

You can purchase additional miles to top up your account if that helps? It is US$50 per 2000 miles so its good if you are only a little bit short of a trip. I just had some miles expiring but I didnt have enough to get a trip to Europe so I was happy to realise they wouldnt be wasted!!! For me it was only a couple of hundred dirham still much cheaper that paying full fare and letting the points go to waste.

Copied from http://www.skywards.com/earning_miles.aspx?SkinID=1 Can my family members help me earn Miles? If you have family members who travel infrequently, then our Family Bonus programme is ideal. Nominate up to eight family members and whenever they fly you will earn 20% of the Miles.

As far as I know, skyward miles were never transferable. You could redeem the miles for tickets for anyone if you have enough miles in your account only. No pooling allowed :(

I called Skywards 2 days ago and was told that miles are not transferrable even between family members. My DH has some that are expiring and wanted to transfer them to me and we were told no transferring. You may need to start a family membership but I think you may get less miles. A chap spoke on the radio some months back saying it was changing.

you can book an award (free) ticket for somebody else, but.... the respective amount of miles has to be in ONE account. if you and your husband each have say 15'000 miles, you can not combine them to make up the required 30'000 miles for a trip.... I know, most likely not what you wanted to hear...but such is life....

I always thought that they were able to be freely given to someone else (freely transferable) - is this no longer the case? We all have quite a few thousand and I was hoping to combine them and fly someone over for a special treat! Can anyone advise me?
