Thank you all for your comments and suggestions. Very helpful. I will check out the suggested blogs, have a go on google analytics, and might even registered mine on UAE community Blog. I am not writing so much for the family back home, more for friends and the Dubai families but it's true the family still read and enjoy the posts. I don't get so much comments from readers, I still wonder if it's useful to people and how to get better. Friends are helpful just wanted to get a broad audiance and opinion... Not sure if I could mention the name of my blog... Last time I did it the threads was removed?!

i blog - started for the same reason as the OP but also as i love to write. if you're wondering if anyone reads yours, apply google analytics to your blog and then you can measure your traffic - it's quite interesting and surprising seeing who is reading and where they are!

My son writes one, mostly for his grandparents, who absolutely LOVE it. I dont, but here are some good Dubai blogs I follow: www.yumfoodblog.blogspot.com (recipe journal) http://emiraticankitchen.wordpress.com/ http://uaecommunity.blogspot.com/ (this blog pulls together a whole bunch of different UAE blogs - you can register yours on it if you like) http://emirateseconomist.blogspot.com/ (interesting news and ideas about UAE) http://www.dancingfountains.blogspot.com/ (this is a new serial novel, not sure about it yet) I'd say if you enjoy it, go for it. It is a good way of keeping your family in the loop...

I don't blog but I do send out a weekly(ish) email. It started out going to a few people back in the office in London, and has grown from there to the point people have asked me to add them to the 'distribution list'. I didn't send it last week but I've already had an email today asking if I'm going to send my 'Thursday email' so I'm now under huge pressure to to come up with something suitably funny!! I could always write about the 5000 dhs bill at Atmosphere last night...that was bleeding hilarious!!

Hey there, I started a blog when we moved here in January. It is my way of staying close to my family back home. I've never been very good at replying to emails as well so I thought it is a good way of telling my friends and not so close relatives what life is like Dubai for us. I have no idea if my blog is interesting but my friends and family seem to like it! I always try to add photos as well as words can't always explain everything. I try to write with one or 2 people in mind, so I write like if I was talking to them. Also I read blogs from other people living in Dubai. Here are 2 I really enjoy: Dubai's Deparate Housewife and Dubai Sally. To answer your questions: Is it interesting? Without reading I can't tell but do you get feedback/comments from people reading it? Is it useful? Yes, to you as you can tell your story and if your friends/family read then they know a bit more about your life! Is it worth it? If you enjoy doing then def!! ;-)
