Help !!

I was looking through my jewellery box yesterday and saw a ring I haven't worn for years - sapphire and diamonds - I put it on and left it for a couple of hours - I can't get it off ! and with all the pull and tugging my finger has swollen.

I've tried ice water, olive oil, soap, handcream - and now my finger is sore but the ring is stuck.

Any suggestions? I don't want to have the ring cut off

I have the a/c blasting and went to bed hoping the swelling would go down overnight.

Just got up and it hasn't gone down enough for me to remove and I don't want to start pulling etc and have it swell up more - what now?

Hospital, jeweller ? or do I just have to wear it forever?

I faced a similar issue a while back. I searched google for a solution and found a company called Gold Fixers. Gold Fixers provides at-home emergency ring-cutting services all across Dubai!! I called them, they sent a technician and the ring was free within minutes. They even gave me a discount on repairing the ring with free delivery. They are most definitely my go to and I have their number saved just incase.

Yes to ice, holding hand above heart level and smother with washing up liquid works for me. I'm forever getting swollen hands while wearing my fav rings!

Slather your finger with Hemarhoid cream. It will bring down swelling and inflamation. Ring will come off easier then.

Ring update DH tried waxed dental floss, window cleaner, soaking in cold water with detergent etc etc nothing worked - finger was swollen and is just starting to go down. It's not blue and not painful. The ring looks pretty and I think I will just leave it and try again in a few days. I've started a diet and hopefully it will slip off soon or I can find someone who knows how to get it off without cutting. Thanks for all the tips xx

do it with dental floss, its waxed and works better than cotton thread.

I'm not sure if I can describe this one - you might need to see it...... My grandmother taught me and it works every time. Take a roll of sewing cotton (thread) and wind it around your finger mummy style - ie making a kind of bandage. You need to start from the end of your knuckle nearest your nail. Keep the cotton tight, and carefully make sure that each wrap sits beside the previous one, not over it and it will compress your finger as it goes. Once you've tightly bandaged your knuckle joint, move the ring over the cotton "sleeve" pulling gently on the end bit of cotton, which will help nudge the ring along. Don't leave the cotton (or the ring for that matter if your finger is swelling) on for too long - it can be very bad for the nerves on your finger. HTH Holly

ice ice and more ice, then a good slathering of olive oil all over your hand and ring, to help it slip off. Good luck.

If you can hold your hand up above heart level preferably with an ice pack this will help to reduce the swelling more quickly.

Try putting your hand in ice water again, If the swelling has gone down even a little overnight it might do the trick.
